  • Discover a new hobby – Get to grips with a versatile material that's easy to use again at home.

Back in the day, while studying 3D Modelling and Animation in London, I first got into clay modelling — initially as part of a university module, but it quickly became a hobby and creative obsession. I’ve always loved comics, cartoons, and animation, and spent years drawing and illustrating, heavily inspired by shows like The Simpsons and classic pop culture characters.
Before teaching workshops, I worked as a freelance illustrator and even picked up a few commissions with Time Out magazine. A few years later, I started experimenting with selling handmade sculptures on Etsy.
While that didn’t quite take off the way I’d hoped, it unexpectedly led me to teaching — which turned out to be the thing I genuinely loved most.
I began running small polymer clay sessions at a local community centre, charging a small fee and teaching people how to make fun, pop culture-inspired creations.
From there, things grew naturally into what I do now: teaching workshops across Newcastle at venues including Tyneside Cinema and The Grove, as well as running corporate team-building sessions for companies such as Mott MacDonald, Autodesk, and One Strawberry Lane. I’ve also hosted birthday parties, hen dos, and private events.
Most of my sessions are themed around pop culture and nostalgic favourites — from Pokémon and The Simpsons to E.T, Alien, and Aardman Animations. I love seeing people connect through shared fandoms while getting creative at the same time.
One thing people really enjoy about the workshops is how accessible and mess-free they are — there’s no painting involved because I use high-quality, vibrantly pigmented FIMO Professional clay. In just an hour and a half, attendees can create something they’re genuinely proud of, while also enjoying a few drinks, chatting, and spending time with friends or meeting new people.
For me, the workshops are just as much about the social experience as they are about making something to take home and bake in the oven afterwards. It’s relaxed, creative, nostalgic, and fun — even for people who don’t think of themselves as “artistic.”
