Step away from the screen and into the world of handmade printmaking. Join illustrator and screenprinter Bench Allen for an evening of cutting, printing and storytelling as you create your own original screenprints using beautifully simple papercut stencils. Inspired by folklore, nature and the changing seasons, this workshop celebrates the magic of making by hand, where every cut, layer of ink and pull of the squeegee leaves its own unique mark.
Whether you're an artist, a designer, a curious creative, or simply after a memorable evening making something with your hands, you'll leave with a real appreciation for the tactile process of screenprinting – and a collection of prints that are entirely your own.
Bench has spent over a decade immersed in the craft, working as both an artist and professional printer, printing for Jealous Gallery, live printing at Somerset House's Museum of Edible Earth, and working alongside celebrated artists including Anthony Burrill and David Shrigley. His workshops combine years of technical knowledge with an accessible, encouraging approach that makes printmaking feel welcoming to everyone.
Using hand-cut paper stencils, you'll design and print your own series of bold A5 screenprints inspired by folk tales, myths, symbols and seasonal rituals, or simply follow your own ideas. The process embraces the unexpected – every print carries the character of the hand that made it, so no two are ever quite alike.
Taking place around Lughnasadh (Lammas), the ancient harvest festival, the evening offers a playful nod to folklore and celebration, with bold colours, analogue processes and satisfying layers of ink shared alongside fellow creatives.
By the end, you'll take home a selection of your own original prints, along with the confidence to keep experimenting with papercut screenprinting at home using minimal equipment. Come for the printmaking, stay for the stories, good company, and the quiet satisfaction of making something by hand.

Hi, we’re Emily and Jess, the creative minds behind Something Good Workshops!
Our journey began in 2019 when Emily launched Something Good Workshops (originally known as MADEptford) as a way to spread crafty joy and raise funds for running the London Marathon. What started as a one-time idea quickly grew into a passion for bringing people together through creativity. Since then, we’ve hosted a wide variety of workshops, from arm knitting to body casting, in all kinds of spaces - corporate offices, cosy pubs, pop-up shops, and even people’s homes.
After taking a short break, we’re back with fresh energy and an exciting new partnership. Jess has joined the team, and together, we’re on a mission to spark joy and empower people to explore their creativity in relaxing, welcoming spaces. We believe there’s something magical about slowing down, working with your hands, and leaving with something you’ve made yourself - whether it’s a chunky knit blanket, a personal shrine, or a collage bursting with personality.
What makes us unique? We’re all about creating an environment where people feel at ease, whether they’re a total beginner or a seasoned maker. Over the years, we’ve held workshops in so many different settings, and one thing always stands out: the joy people feel when they realize just how creative they can be.
We’re not just here to teach a craft - we’re here to help you unwind, have fun, and leave with a tangible reminder that you’re capable of making something good.
