A painting workshop for people who know how to have fun (and don't take themselves too seriously)
We will be playing classic party games, and each game will provide you with a prompt of what to paint. To match the party vibes, we paint on paper plates only and it is entirely up to you whether you take them home or leave them to be recycled. The goal is not to make lasting artwork, but to enjoy the moment and let go of expectations.
During each workshop you will usually play four games, some in pairs and some in bigger teams. This might include:
  • Pictionary
  • Pass the Parcel
  • Musical Plates
  • Two Truths and One Lie
  • A Round of Pub Quiz But You Paint The Answers
  • (or one of the secret new games which are currently being developed)
*some games may come with prizes but this will be for your guessing skills or pub quiz knowledge, your painting skills will never be judged!
The workshop is ideal for people who haven't painted in a while, or don't feel confident in their painting abilities. All you need is to show up and be prepared to feel silly, you might end up painting a duck on a bike or a tiger brushing its teeth! The workshop lasts for two hours with a quick drinks/toilet break halfway through. All painting materials will be provided.
Your workshop can be personalised to suit a special occasion such as a staff do, birthday or a hen party - working on the tiny details to make the workshop more special for you is my favourite part of the process so I would love to hear if you have a niche theme or some inside jokes that you'd like included in the painting game design, or the round of quiz where you paint the answers. I am happy to make a 30 minute call before your session if you want to talk through personalisation details.
Please note that this booking is for a 'travelling' painting workshop service - it is up to you to provide the venue. I would recommend somewhere with good lighting, tables and chairs for everyone and a little extra space for the paper plates to dry. Waterproof table covers will be provided and I can give some suggestions for venues around Bristol if you're not sure where you start. When booking a venue, please keep in mind that I need around 30 minutes to set up before the start of your workshop and another 30 minutes to pack down at the end. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!

Hello - my name is Magda (also known as Patterned Frog) and I'm a Polish artist, currently based in Bristol. In my own time I like to drink tea, paint frogs and make tiny illustrations which help me process life as it happens. I often find that I'm happiest and most fulfilled when I'm being creative and I wanted to share that joy with others.
Lat summer, I decided to try running my own workshops and initially began with a simple Paint and Pint evening. I printed prompt sheets for people and sat in awkward silence while they ignored the instructions and worked for two hours each perfecting their own canvas. I think they enjoyed it but it just wasn't quite the workshop I wanted to run. I felt it missed a level of sillyness and social interaction, and that's when I came up with the idea of Painting Party.
Painting Party is a workshop aimed at people who don't think they are good at painting. It combines elements of classic party games and painting to provide an evening of joy and making memories with friends, where having fun in the moment is more important that the final results of the painting. The prompts are designed to allow you to make art without expectations, painting things like ducks on bikes and tigers brushing their teeth. The only requirement is that you are able to not take yourself too seriously.
The workshop lasts for two hours and is made of a combination of games in pairs (or ice breaker games if you don't already know each other) and team games which can sometimes get competetive. Prizes may be awarded for your general knowledge or guessing skills (especially with a round of Pub Quiz But You Paint The Answers) but you will never be judged on your painting ability. Painting is done on paper plates only and all the materials are provided. Usually there is a quick drinks/toilet break half way through. Sessions can also be personalised for special occasions.
