In this workshop, you'll learn the art of crafting exquisite silver jewellery with your very own hand-polished Australian opal. Whether you desire an enchanting pendant or a distinctive ring, this class will teach you the traditional silversmithing techniques necessary to create a beautiful piece.
The class begins with the unique experience of cutting and polishing your own Australian opal. Don't worry if you're a beginner - our expert instructors will guide you every step of the way. Using traditional methods such as shaping the silver, filing, soldering, and polishing, you'll then create a bezel setting for your opal. And here's the best part - no glue involved!
Throughout this immersive craft project, the Noctua team will be there to support and teach you the necessary skills. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with prior experience in jewellery making. We offer a wide range of exceptional Australian opals for you to choose from on the day of the class.
By the end of the class, you'll not only have a stunning piece of silver jewellery but also the knowledge and experience to create more in the future. Join us for this interactive and transformative workshop and unleash your creativity in crafting your own opal set jewellery. Everyone is welcome!
We do not have a strict age limit but please enquire before booking a class for anyone under the age of 16 to confirm that the workshop is suitable for children. All under 16s will need to be accompanied by a participating adult.

We are Britt and Andrew. Britt’s journey with jewellery making started in 2012 as a hobby that has slowly blossomed into what it is today - Noctua Jewellery & Workshops. Andrew joined Britt in September 2017 helping out with workshops and learning about the business.
Britt's love for jewellery started when she was a child and a relative bought her a beading kit. She delved in and out of jewellery making until she was 15 and finally discovered the holy grail of jewellery making: silversmithing. Much to her father’s delight, she purchased a blowtorch online and then began practising at home, continuously saving up for new tools and books. After many attempts, both failed and successful, she decided to find an apprenticeship to develop her skills, eventually finding one, 358 miles from home in beautiful Cornwall. Britt returned to Liverpool in February 2017 with a drive to give other people the joy of making their own silver jewellery.
