What you'll do
Join fibre artist Sarah Richards for a creative needle felting workshop in Gloucestershire, where you’ll learn how to needle felt your own adorable springtime hare! This hands-on session is a great introduction to sculptural felting using natural materials.Never tried felting before? No worries! Perfect for beginners, you’ll be guided step by step through the process, learning how to shape and build your piece with confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment.What to expect:
- Learn the fundamentals of needle felting using pure sheep’s wool.
- Use a barbed needle to sculpt and shape your hare.
- Build an armature and cover it with wool.
- Explore colour blending and add fine details.
- Discover different ways to pose your finished sculpture!
- Receive demonstrations and guidance throughout.

Sarah Richards
Sarah is a fibre artist, designer, maker and tutor; based in the Cotswolds. She combines her love of teaching with a passion for natural fibres; and offers workshops that tap into the therapeutic and mindful benefits of creating with wool.
Sarah discovered needle felting over 15 years ago, and is still finding new things to make, and new techniques to try. Felting offers endless opportunities to sculpt, decorate and embellish; and each and every object she or her students create is unique. Working with fibre usually throws up surprises, is sometimes challenging, but always rewarding. Inspiration comes from the natural world and particularly its colours: as wool takes dye so easily, it is the ‘paint’ on a felter’s palette. The variety offered by this medium is also very pleasing: different fibres give particular effects; with wool locks and curls bringing texture and form to both 2D and 3D pieces.Sarah loves to combine mixed media elements into her work, sometimes repurposing vintage and recycled materials and fabrics.
