Macramé Workshop for Beginners

Craft a macramé wall hanging and plant hanger for your home at this calming Buckingham workshop

3 hours Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 4 to 10 label £30

On the search for relaxing Buckingham activities? Come along to The Nimble Thimble and learn the art of macramé — a textile craft based on making decorative knots using string or macramé cord.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn five basic macramé knots: larks’ head, binding, square, spiral and double half-hitch, and then use them to make a plant hanger and small wall hanging.

Our welcoming instructors will guide you through each step, ensuring a relaxing and enjoyable learning experience. Working with these materials has a calming and meditative effect, allowing you to focus on creating something special with your own hands.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a unique plant hanger and wall hanging to adorn your space, adding a touch of handmade charm to your home. This unique craft allows you to create patterns to make everything from classic plant hangers to bags, jewellery and wall hangings; you're sure to return home feeling inspired!

Your teacher

The Nimble Thimble was started in 2009 by two friends Val Sandford and Jane Templeman who loved to craft but couldn’t find anywhere local.

From this small beginning The Nimble Thimble was born and proved to be a huge success. So much so that it quickly out grew its premises in Bridge Street and moved to a larger space in Well Street, where it can still be found today.

In 2020 Jane Hawkins took over and, together with Sara Blackwell and Kate Lowe, they aim to make The Nimble Thimble the one stop destination.

2021 saw a facelift and reorganisation of the shop layout. This created more space for new yarn and crafts as well as dressmaking fabrics for the first time.
