Hi, I’m Emma I’m a trained actor, director and teacher. With professional credits in theatre, TV and film and currently directing theatre at Liverpool's Royal Court. I have been teaching performing arts for 20 years and harness my cumulative expertise in every class I lead.
I discovered improvisation over 18 years ago and was instantly hooked — it was the mix of creativity, playfulness, and connection that lit me up. I was so inspired I started teaching improv over 10 years ago and founded my business Liverpool Comedy Improv.
Over the years I’ve taught improv to hundreds of people across the North West, from complete beginners to professional actors. I’ve delivered team-building workshops for businesses (Unilever, Hydro, NHS, RSA, Torus) Universities (Liverpool, and Manchester), and wellbeing organisations (Age Concern, Liverpool Lighthouse, The Life Rooms).
Some things many people don’t realise? Improv isn’t just for performers, it’s a powerful tool for real life: building confidence, boosting wellbeing, bonding teams, sparking imagination, and helping people listen to each other and collaborate.
Crucially, improv isn’t about being “funny” either — it’s about being present, saying yes to ideas, and supporting each other. And that’s exactly why it’s so powerful in a workplace setting.
I absolutely love creating spaces where people feel safe to experiment, laugh, and surprise themselves. There’s nothing better than watching a group of colleagues step out of 'work mode' and discover each other in a whole new way - and there's plenty of laughter, the greatest of all levellers!
So whether you’re looking to boost creativity, strengthen collaboration, or just share a brilliant, energising experience with your team, I’d love to help make it happen.
