Is your young artist finishing primary school this year?
This is a big rite of passage for Year Six kids, particularly for friendship groups, as they take the step up to high school.
At Hope Press, I’ve been thinking of a way to creatively mark the move—a way for kids to spend some high-quality time together, make something special, and have a handmade memento of this time in their lives.
Step in, the handprinted leavers hoodie!
In this class, they’ll have the chance to make their very own take on the classic leavers accessory. We’ll print names on the front, and then they can design whatever they like for the back, whether that’s the graduation year or something they love (or their favourite pizza in the case of my daughter!)
In the class, we'll work up designs, cut stencils for back and front using scalpels, learn the basics of screen printing, and print using bold white ink.
The hoodies are lovely—organic cotton and available in a number of colours. Bear in mind I’ll need seven days’ notice to order the right size and colour for you. Once you book, I'll be in touch to confirm this.
What you'll get
A beautiful organic hoodie in the colour of their choice

Believe it or not, print-making saved my life!
A few years ago, my life looked pretty normal: I was a Dad, a garden designer, and a keen walker. Suddenly everything changed. One day I simply couldn’t get off the sitting-room floor. I’d had a nasty bug and the next thing I knew: I was diagnosed with ME/CFS.
For a long time, things were pretty tough, but as the weeks passed, I began to discover painting and printmaking. And as the weeks turned to months I was making more and more art, and steadily feeling better.
Print-making was a refuge: a place to get better from. As I recovered my health I realised I wanted to share the magic of making things with other people; and the dream of Hope Press was born!
Everyone could do with more space in their life, more time for creativity, more peace and flow. I now run a variety of classes and workshops in printmaking – including a course for people with illnesses like mine – I hope you'll find something for you.
