Your teacher
I am a painter and weaver from Northern Ireland, based in South East London. I trained as an oil painter in Dublin and London before combining my painting practice with textiles. Knitting, crochet, sewing and embroidery have always been in my life. My granny and my mother made their own garments. Eventually these crafts were bound to make their way into my work. My own weaving journey began in 2020 and I've been teaching on small looms and rigid heddle looms for the past 3 years. I enjoy sharing my passion for traditional crafts and I particularly love working with colour and texture to create unique artworks. I'm always amazed by the ideas my students bring to classes - everyone brings their own perspective.I host small, welcoming workshops in my art studio in Catford, SE6. I'll provide everything you need - materials and looms, tea and biscuits - but it's always nice if you have a meaningful cloth or yarn that you want to repurpose in your artwork.
