So, you've recently learnt how to set up and operate your sewing machine and you're feeling inspired to dive into your list of creative projects. There's just one thing standing in your way... how on earth do you sew in a zip?
Whether it’s for a make-up bag, a cushion cover, or that dream handmade tote, zips can seem daunting – but they don’t have to be! This one-day workshop is designed to take the mystery out of zippers and give you the practical skills and confidence to use them with ease in your future projects.
What you’ll learn:
  • How to attach and make full use of your zipper presser foot
  • Understanding different types of zips and when to use them
  • How to accurately mark, pin, and stitch a zip into a project
  • Top tips for neat finishes and avoiding common pitfalls
  • How to insert both regular and concealed zippers
  • Simple troubleshooting techniques
  • Sewing corners and neat seam allowances around zips
All techniques will be applied as you work step-by-step to sew your very own fully-lined zippered over-shoulder bag – a practical and stylish project you’ll be proud to carry home!

What to bring
  • You can bring your own sewing machine or use ours if you don’t have one.
  • A full sewing kit: Scissors, measuring tape, pins/clips, marking tools, bobbins, thread cutter, seam ripper, pin cushion -- can be purchased and collected on the day of attendance here.
  • Fabric can be purchased along with your booking; alternatively, details and measurements will be provided upon booking.
