Join this lampwork glassblowing lesson and learn the mesmerising art of shaping molten glass in a flame. This one to one workshop is a wonderfully supportive, low pressure space to try your hand at a unique craft. You'll begin with a brief safety chat to put you completely at ease, and be provided with protective glasses that soften the bright glare of the flame so you can clearly see your designs come to life.
It's a fully hands on session where you'll get to feel how the glass moves and flows as it warms up. Your expert instructor will demonstrate each step before walking you through the process to make your own pieces. In one hour you will learn how to gather molten glass, shape it and sculpt it. Together, we'll work on creating up to three beautiful custom items tailored to your taste. If you have a project or idea in mind, after I have shown you the basics I am happy to adapt future classes to focus on your ideas.
Designs you can choose to make include:
  • Decorated drinking straw – Perfect for your summer drinks
  • Magical mushroom pendant or sculpture – A whimsical, colourful creation
  • Encased opal pendant – Learn how to capture a beautiful shimmer inside clear glass
  • Mesmerising glass galaxy – Create a stunning space effects trapped in glass
This exhilarating experience is a fantastic way to switch off from the outside world and spark a brand new creative obsession. You'll walk away with an incredible sense of achievement, with up to three handmade glass keepsakes ready to collect when they have cooled in the kiln.
Rockaway Park is a creative utopia in an old quarry in the Somerset countryside. You can easily spend a few hours before or after your course wondering round and exploring the sculptures and curiosities at every turn. We have a vegan cafe, offering delicious lunches until 2pm every day. Snacks and drinks are available all day - not included. I will provide tea and biscuits
Check out my other course offering if you are interested in learning fused glass

Hello!
Welcome to my ClassBento workshops. I teach lampwork glassblowing and fused glass classes from my spacious workshop at Rockaway Park, Somerset.
My love of glass began when I was offered a nannying job in Venice. I spent days walking around the mazes of streets exploring the glass galleries and watching glassblowers work in Murano. When I returned, I accepted a job in a North Norfolk orchard and there happened to be a glass studio in the farmyard! After picking plums each day I would go and help out in the hotshop.
I soon decided that I liked the more intricate and delicate art of lampworking, rather than the heavy lifting and heat of the hotshop. This is when I bought my first lampworking torch, in 2015.
From sailing across the Pacific Ocean to swimming with whale sharks off of the remote island of St. Helena, and hitchhiking through the wild landscapes of New Zealand, my travels continually inspire the work I create.
