Celebrate the beauty of flaws in our Kintsugi workshop, where broken pottery becomes more beautiful for having been broken. Guided by an experienced instructor, you will break your chosen ceramic vessel, then you’ll learn the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi - repairing cracks and chips with gold resin to highlight, rather than hide, each piece’s unique story.
This mindful, hands-on experience is about more than mending pottery; it’s about embracing imperfections, finding value in the unexpected, and transforming damage into art. Using carefully selected ceramics, you'll first break, then you’ll re-create a one-of-a-kind piece that’s both beautiful and deeply meaningful. Perfect for anyone drawn to creativity, reflection, and the art of resilience.
Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Rather than hiding cracks, Kintsugi highlights them, turning the breakage into a beautiful feature that becomes part of the object’s history.
The practice dates back to the late 15th century, when Japanese craftsmen began mending prized ceramics for the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa. It is rooted in the philosophy of wabi-sabi - finding beauty in imperfection.
