Creative kids will love crafting a unique Halloween decoration that is certain to set a spooky scene! This mache pumpkin project is a great way to get the Halloween fun started and it’ll teach them all about making with mache.
The tutorial is designed for kids aged three years and over. They’ll have an expert Hobbycraft colleague showing them every step of the way, with a fantastic variety of craft materials provided in store to help them transform one spooky pumpkin – from googly eyes to tissue paper! There are so many ways to make something unique.
Whether kids have never made with mache before or they just love getting stuck in with this versatile craft, the workshop will be a fun way to embrace Halloween excitement.
All participants will walk away with pumpkins to put on display. Please note, you may need to allow for drying time.
Workshop suitable for ages 3+ years. All kids’ craft workshops require adult supervision. One ticket is required per child.
Our workshop spaces in some stores are located in open areas, and we will endeavour to minimise interruption from other crafters.

The area itself was a little bit rough around the edges, seemed more like a store room area than a craft area. The quality of the materials was good and we were able to get a good result - we love our pumpkin! Bit of mild drama over no real loos for customers - not ideal with toddlers around, but they did eventually let us use the loos (not our teacher’s fault!) They also hadn’t thought about how we’d transport our sticky pumpkins home, until we asked - thought this could have been preempted. All in all it was a good experience, but given it’s Hobbycraft I feel they could possibly do more to make the workshop area a) more cosy/themed to the workshop/time of year and b) well signposted at the door so it was clear where to go (stickers on floor but easy to miss). Good value for £8, but would pay more if they made it cuter for kids… namecards on their places, maybe a little themed treat, that sort of thing.
