Before I got bitten by the ceramics bug I was a teacher for around 15 years and I now love teaching ceramics to both beginners and improvers. I have been designing and making ceramics for over 20 years and specialise in making vases and bowls thrown on the wheel from fine white porcelain.

Clay is a fantastic medium – it’s made from the earth and its versatility means it can be modelled into different animal forms, slab built into vessels or coiled into bowls. It’s easy to work with and fun to press, roll, pinch into different decorative items.

I mainly use air drying clay in the workshops which is perfect for home projects as it doesn’t require a kiln for firing. It dries to a hard finish and can be painted with everyday acrylic paints – and even varnished so the pieces can go outside.
