Guided by the philosophy of Kintsugi, this workshop embraces imperfection and transformation. Using modern techniques that echo the traditional practice, which can take many weeks to complete, you will experience a mindful, hands-on repair process within a single session.
Focusing on precision and patience, you will use a pre-broken bowl and choose from a range of metallic powders to personalise your piece. The session is relaxed and reflective, with space for conversation and creativity. There will be opportunities for informal discussion throughout to explore the history, theory, and techniques behind traditional Kintsugi practice, with time for questions, shared reflections, and conversation around individual approaches.
You will leave this workshop with a completed Kintsugi bowl to display in your home and the foundational skills needed to continue practising and developing the technique independently, with the potential to build toward a more traditional Kintsugi practice.
Please note that there will be a 20-minute break to allow drying time in this session, where you will be welcome to stretch your legs or use the on-site café while your work dries.
What you'll get
All materials and equipment are included.
Knowledge required
All abilities are welcome, just an open mindset and a willingness to work slowly, as kintsugi is as much about the process and reflection as it is about repair.
What to bring
Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Please remove jewellery and tie hair back.
You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you, but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.
Refreshments are available at our on-site café, Blend, until 4pm.

New Brewery Arts is Cirencester’s creative heart — a vibrant cultural charity housed in the historic buildings of the former Cirencester Brewery.
After the brewery’s closure in 1937, the site fell into disuse and was nearly lost to demolition. Thanks to a visionary local group, two of the remaining buildings were restored and transformed into craft workshops, opening as Cirencester Workshops in 1978.
Its mission is to champion craft — making it, learning it, and supporting the people who do it. Its courses, workshops, makers’ studios, 100% UK-made craft shop, and café all contribute to a vibrant creative hub at the heart of Cirencester.
