Rob Thorpe is a Green Woodworker based in Oxfordshire with a passion for heritage craft.
Many years ago, he fell in love with Green Woodworking after spending time in the woods on a stool making course and has been hooked ever since. After a career teaching woodwork in schools he thought it was time to indulge his passion for green woodworking and heritage craft full time.Over the years Rob has been able to develop his skills, and loves producing unique hand carved spoons, bowls and other greenwood products.

After the brewery’s closure in 1937, the site fell into disuse and was nearly lost to demolition. Thanks to a visionary local group, two of the remaining buildings were restored and transformed into craft workshops, opening as Cirencester Workshops in 1978. Its mission is to champion craft — making it, learning it, and supporting the people who do it. Its courses, workshops, makers’ studios, 100% UK-made craft shop, and café all contribute to a vibrant creative hub at the heart of Cirencester.
