Introduction to Enamelling Course

Master the art of enamelling over three days with expert tutor Sinéad, learning to transform copper into beautiful handcrafted jewellery. This jewellery workshop in Cirencester is structured to give you dedicated time to learn and refine your skills, starting with foundations on day one – preparing copper and enamel, applying enamel using traditional sieving, learning to fire with hand-held torches, and adding texture with hammers and stencils. By day two, you'll be confident enough to blend different enamel types for varied effects and experiment with silver foil and silver leaf for decorative touches. Day three is all about expressive enamelling – trying a water-colour style of application and painting directly with enamel for more fluid, creative results.You'll begin by creating test tiles to really master each technique, then progress to making your own enamelled copper earrings or pendants. This is hands-on, creative work – Sinéad will guide you through each step, but there's plenty of room for experimentation and personal expression. It's the kind of workshop where you'll get a bit messy, try things, discover what works, and build genuine confidence with the materials and techniques.You'll leave with fundamental enamelling skills that open up a whole creative practice, plus unique, wearable jewellery you've handcrafted yourself – pieces beautiful enough to wear and treasure for years to come. Each earring or pendant is entirely your own, a reflection of what you've learned and created across the three days.Please note: wear an apron or clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty – this is wonderfully hands-on work. All materials and tools are provided: enamel and copper for test tiles, plus copper for two pairs of earrings and two pendants included. Silver earring wire hooks and silver chains will be available to buy at cost price during the course to turn the pieces into jewellery, and extra copper blanks to create more if wanted.
