Using Rings and Pliers
All you need for creating chainmail are pliers and metal jumprings, easy to start anywhere and continue at home! Materials will be provided and you will have a choice of colours to create your own unique designs.
Create a Bracelet
You can create a simple chainmail bracelet to wear or give as a gift within a couple of hours. Learn the chainmail weave and use copper, stainless steel or coloured aluminium jumprings.
Make Chainmail Earrings
You can create one or more pairs of chainmail earrings in designs of your choice to wear in a couple of hours. This is only suitable for adults and teenagers as you need to use pliers.
- Learn the ancient art of creating chainmail using metal jump rings.
- Use pliers to weave and interlink rings into a decorative pattern.
- Create your own design using copper, stainless steel, or coloured aluminium.

Your teacher
After doing an art degree, I studied Clothing at London College of Fashion and then trained as a milliner in London and worked for traditional hat companies and designers like Lock and Co and Frederick Fox in the 1990s. I am passionate about fashion and especially love gothic and historical costume inspired designs. I now create my own occasion headpieces and chainmail jewellery from my workshop in Winchester. I love the tactile feel of jewellery created from metal which is made into textile and all the possibilities this creates as accessories. I love teaching and have also taught English as a Foreign Language as well as craft workshops.
