Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

We had booked for a pipcleaner flower class. The atmosphere and teacher was great. My kid made three things a wand and flowers. He was happy with what he was able to achieve. You just have to come along and the rest is provided. It was wonderful

We had a fantastic experience at my ten year old daughter's first Sewing Machine 1:1 Class today in Swindon today. Her teacher (Sarah) was incredible helpful, kind and patient. My daughter has autism and often finds new experiences difficult but she was at ease and thoroughly enjoyed the lesson. She left with lots of confidence and excited about her first sewing project. Big thanks to Sarah.

Faye at Hobbycraft was brilliant. My son enjoyed the clay workshop. I would say its definitely value for money. The workshop started on time and everything was well arranged for the kids to start making the clay animals.

We booked this class to learn how to use a sewing machine. Our teacher, Sarah, was very good at explaining the basics of the machine and was very knowledgeable about sewing. She recommended some easy sewing patterns and had some great tips for beginners.

Lovely tutor and small group so able to ask questions and learn at your own pace. Materials were good quality and we learnt chain stitch, double and treble crochet. Very good value for money and would definitely recommend if you want to learn the basics.

Booked a beginner's crochet course for my daughter and myself. Karen was lovely - very patient, friendly and helpful. The course was informative and rewarding, in a good-sized area at the back of the store, without the feeling that we were being overlooked! We learned how to do double and treble stitches. Really enjoyable experience for me and my daughter. The teacher was very patient and friendly and we learnt so much in just one lesson! The location was nice and quiet and spacious at the back of the store. We were provided with yarn and a crochet hook and were offered drinks. Will be now practicing lots at home, with the help of the print out we were given which has verbal and visual instructions/pictures. Looling forward to booking in to doing more classes

I thought the lesson was great. I was learning to get going on a sewing machine and was given the chance to try a couple of brands and see how I feel with them. The teacher was really friendly and super clear with their instructions. I left fully inspired and will be purchasing a machine asap!

Faith ran the session and she was amazing! Very welcoming and engaging with the kids. She had lots of ideas about how to use the different supplies provided. This was a £4 workshop and it was definitely worth the money! My daughter had an hour to make 5 cards and this was the perfect amount of time. So glad I booked two other workshops for the same price! Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely fantastic value for money. I regularly bring my son to one of the workshops, as he loves it and gets a lot out of it. Fantastic, sympathetic, attentive staff. I would highly recommend these workshops for those looking for a little activity, to entertain the children for an hour. I even enjoyed it too.

I really enjoyed my wreath making experience. My teacher, Fay, was excellent and gave me a great deal of support, encouragement and confidence. She explained everything very clearly and patiently. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. Thank you Fay!
I also liked the space we worked in, it felt comfortable and calming, away from the main part of the store.
The materials provided were a joy to work with and well suited to the task. I loved the presentation box they came in.
This was a most enjoyable workshop and terrific value for money. Everything was well organised and I loved the end product. I can't wait to display my wreath for all my visitors to admire.
I will certainly look out for more workshops to enjoy in the future and will recommend these to my family and friends!

I really enjoyed the workshop with Emma, she taught me how to chain, double crochet and treble crochet, materials were provided along with an instruction booklet all which can be taken home to continue practicing.
Very good value for money, only 3 of us learning so plenty of help if you got stuck.

Hannah was superb! She was so patient and encouraging with me and my daughter, and a pleasure to spend the hour with. We each received a goodie bag with 2 balls of wool watch and crochet hook each. A lovely way to spend an hour (we actually ran a little over but Hannah kindly let us finish our Granny Square!) I would definitely recommend and I will looking to book a sewing machine one next!

We had lots of fun at this workshop. Our instructor shared lots of techniques the children could try on their canvasses. Lots of paint colours were avaliable, as were brushes, sponges and stamps.

Hannah was amazing, I was the only one in the workshop but she was so patient with me and taught me the basic stitches.
I would recommend to anyone that was looking to learn a new craft. Even if there had been 5 people on the workshop I think hannah would have been amazing at teaching us all. Loved that we were in the back so shoppers weren't watching what we were doing. Absolutely loved it.

There were only 3 of us on the class which worked well as you had more help(I needed this)The area we worked in was sectioned off from the main store with previous work on display.We were given 2 big balls of wool,a crochet hook and instruction sheet(incomplete)in a bag to keep.Alex the instructor was great and SO patient.Thoroughly recommend

Alex was knowledgable, approachable, and great at chatting with the kids. She gave great instructions, was generous with the resources, and created a lovely fun atmosphere for the workshop. I was particularly impressed with how she coached kids through the steps rather than doing it for them, this really helped my kids grow in their craft skills as well as have a fun experience. Hannah was fantastic, talked me through the sewing machines on offer and then helped me decided on where to start with 'test driving ' a new one. She ensured I had everything I wanted and did not push me into a bigger or more expensive model. Had my previous one 30+ years and technology has moved on somewhat.

This was Karen’s/artist teachers first session and it was great. We would never have known this. She Considered the pace of all the kids, attended to everyone, understood the kids would prefer to make their own version of a clay character for the second sculpture.

Emma was amazing so patient with us, she went through things slowly and kept going back over things we didn’t know!
The pack was great you get a little hand out of “how to” and some yarn and a needle!
It’s nice that the one in Swindon you have a little back to go too, so you don’t feel like everyone is watching you.
I definitely need to keep practicing my crochet skills but it was good to be taught the basics by Emma.

Alex the teacher was excellent. Really helpful and fun.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the class and would love to go to one at the next level.
The work area was better than expected and in an area separated from the main shop.
Our paint boxes were fantastic with lots of beautiful paint colours and everything we needed to do the paint pour.
My only little gripe is that we used practically all the paint in the bottles and so much of it was wasted. I think we could have used a lot less for each pour so we would have enough left to take home to complete the larger framed canvas.
Absolutely loved the class though and would definitely go to to another class there.

We loved it, our daughter was the participant she was insistent on doing it (age is 9) she loved it!, I don’t think it would be suitable for any younger and it can be messy on the hands and clothes, the teacher was fab, friendly, patient and knowledgeable but also allowing her the freedom to do it as she pleased, the venue could be a little cosier feels bare and cold but that’s the only thing I can pick a fault with, at first I thought pricey but we got the whole pack of equipment included, paints 4 practice canvas and a framed canvas to end with and get to keep whatever paint left over plus utensils! Fab had a lovely experience together and will be doing more in future.

Hannah was a super teacher and was open to all the questions I asked during the session. Despite Hobbycraft not having the machine I bought new Christmas 2021 (Air 2) the next nearest machine was used and I was assured that functions were very similar. Hannar even explained the differences and how to use them on my personal machine. I was also assured that I could bring my Cricut Air 2 into Hobbycraft if I had problems and they would assist me in getting this sorted. - That was lovely to hear. It was a 'well worth it' session and gave me confidence as a total beginner to be able to go home and get started.

The teacher was supportive and helpful. She used a pre-defined series of activities to introduce me to the sewing machine. She was then able to address the issues I was finding with my own project. She allowed me to use my own machine which, for a beginner, learning to thread etc was invaluable. Lots of useful sewing / dressmaking tips I had not gathered from my own pre-course reading.

I was very taken aback when presented with the Hobbycraft box of materials for the workshop … it was like a gift! I really enjoyed the time with Alex and it was very instructional so I came away feeling inspired. My only criticism was the time slot of one hour which was too short and not realistic for the set project, but I felt the workshop was excellent value and I would be keen to do other workshops too!

I had a brilliant brush letter writing class with Alex. She was a very helpful and patient teacher! We had a giggle and she had some great tips. She first taught how to do the upper and lower case letters, then how to join them up. I went home and practised on party bag gift tags for my Son’s upcoming birthday. I loved the box of goodies, which included; metallic brush pens, notepads, letter practising sheets and gift tags.

The painting ceramics workshop I attended with my children was very well run, from a very friendly and helpful member of staff, from the space in which we were able to 'create', it was all ideal. We were not rushed in any way, and the lady running it didn't seem to mind at all that my children didn't stop talking for the entire 45 minutes we were there.

I will look into other workshops for the future and would recommend to family and friends.

Hanna was a great teacher. I learned with my own sewing machine so she could explain to me the tools that came with the machine and how to use them. I learned a lot of things I didn't know before, for example how to do a buttonhole. In addition, her explanations were very clear and understandable. I could practise my poor sewing in front of her and she told me how to improve. She was friendly and patient with me.

The venue was ok. We had enough space to practice and do the workshop. The material provided was useful and I could bring it with me at home to have more practice. I enjoyed my time there. I think it was worth it.

The idea was good and the amount of clay given was a decent amount!
However, they were not any tools or really any other materials to work with.
My little girl had a plan in her head but got frustrated as didn't have the tool to make what she had in her mind.
But the lady was lovely and it is a lovely idea.

I had a one to one Cricut Maker workshop with Hannah, who was wonderful. She was thorough and patient and tailored the session to the things I was planning to make. Because the Cricut machines are in the centre of the store, we were interrupted a couple of times by customers asking Hannah for assistance. She dealt with the questions quickly so it didn't disrupt our session too much but if it had been busier I could see that being a problem.
I will definitely attend another session once I have practiced the things Hannah showed me.

Absolutely brilliant. The teacher, I think her name was Jenny was so friendly and helpful. She even took us to where we could buy more at the end and didn’t rush us at all. She gave us ideas of things like adding lights to our decs.

The craft kit was great, so much included and it was presented in a lovely box, it was like unwrapping a present.

The colleague in the store who directed us to where the workshop was located was very friendly and helpful and took us to the workshop area.

Another fantastic session with Hannah using my sewing machine now properly set up using easy steps to follow.Covered patterns seam allowance and to machine a tote bag next time we are covering button holes and zips.
Hannah is a great teacher patient and gave me a lot of confidence being an absolute beginner. Plenty of space provided to set everything up for the lesson. Great all round service.

Really enjoyed this workshop, the staff were lovely from the lady in the till who I asked where the class was, to the chap who took me round to the class and the teacher who took it.
It was a nice big area, there was 6 of us, the boxes that the wreaths came are a good idea. Everything in one place and a safe box to take the finish project home in.
Suggestions, bigger table, there were 6 spaces and I think we were all very conscious of space, more plug sockets for glue guns. Definitely recommend.

Jamie was a lovely guy but unfortunately the internet was not very good in the store and the demonstration did not go very well. Although he explained what things could be done with the machine to be able to actually see how it cut different things, we were only able to cut vynyl. Would have been nice to understand what order you used the machine in to achieve a project. He also didn’t realise that I had paid for the one to one until I said I was disappointed with what had happened half way through my hour. He was fantastic at explaining tools and products which could be used with machine however the demonstration side was very disappointing. Obviously bad internet was not his fault.
