I want to start sewing and have just purchased one of Hobbycrafts sewing machines. I could have just read the instructions but having a one on one lesson to show me how to set up the machine and teach me sewing basics as well as sharing some good hints and tips was much better for me. Julie was a brilliant tutor and I would return for assistance with a specific sewing project if needed.

Great Christmas card making class with Lucy, small class this time which meant each child got plenty of attention. Plenty of materials and inspiration provided including lessons learned from previous classes which proved invaluable. My 8-year-old attended the workshop with his dad and absolutely loved it, it was an opportunity for father and son to enjoy something that we honestly would struggle to make at home due to time and resources. Lauren was a very welcoming and likeable young lady. She ensured I had the basics of using a sewing machine and we carried out some practice on different elements of sewing. Lauren advised me on the best types of fabric for a beginner to use and we also discussed using doing patchwork which is something I’m interested in. Altogether an enjoyable hour spent at Hobbycraft.

Hi this is a duplicate but I booked 2hrs together and so glad I did and even that went too quick.

My 1:1 lesson was with Nicola, she was really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Nicola was well prepared for the lesson with specific materials and equipment meaning the time of my session could be used fully for learning! I was also provided with an extra practice material sheet to use at home.
I felt the lesson was very good value for money, I'd bought my sewing machine almost a year ago but hadn't yet turned it on! Now, I have the confidence to use it for my upcoming projects.
I would highly recommend a 1:1 session with Nicola, or her colleagues, to anyone wanting a bespoke session specific to their needs and I won't hesitate to book another when I'm ready to move on to learning more advanced techniques.

What an amazing experience. The pack provided was great with everything you need to make 8 baubles and even a glue gun which was a surprise. Sophie, the tutor was incredible and so enthusiastic about crafting and gave me some great tips and examples. Well worth the money and a great hour spent in excellent company.

The class was relaxed and the tutor was able to demonstrate the calligraphy technique well. Sample practice sheets and materials were provided with ample time to practice using the pens. The baubles themselves were matt and not shiny as I expected, but fairly easy to decorate with simple patterns.

As I was the only person attending had undivided attention from the tutor. They were enthusiastic and able to answer all my questions. The materials provided were good quality and the paints will last a while . I came away with a completed artwork in less than an hour. Definitely good value. Would advise bring an apron.

Nicola was very helpful. She was able to answer my questions and I left with confidence to try it out on my own. The materials provided were enough to get me practising and great that you allowed me to take spares home. It was great value for money and I even purchased a sewing machine from your store, which I was apprehensive about doing this prior to having a lesson. So thank you very much for a great teach! My only slight negative was the venue. I was expecting a one to one session in a private room but we were actually doing this on the shop floor, which wasn't as bad as I first feared but slightly intimidating having other customers watch me in plain sight. I think somewhere more private would be better but that is my only negative.

Nice and friendly staff available to show and explain the activity to the kids.
Working space was also nice and spacious for the kids to enjoy. They got to choose their own canvas pictures they wanted to paint using the resources provided by the staff and got to take their finished product home at the end. They had a lovely time.
Will be looking to book them on to another class again soon!

Julia is a great teacher. She has so much crafting talent and knowledge. She gave me a run down of how to start using my cricut, projects I can try and the best materials for different ones. I left with so much confidence to give it a go at home after feeling intimidated by my machine for quite a while.
Preston Deepdale has a great atmosphere to do workshops in as the staff are all friendly and you are surrounded by a wide range of products to get anyone crafting.
I recommend this workshop if you need advice or a little hand holding to get started. You can ask lots of questions and having Julia by your side you will feel in very safe crafting hands.

Claire was great who ran the session. She really got involved with the children and gave lots of ideas to get them started.
The children were given 2 masks to decorate with feathers, small pom poms and tissue paper and all seemed to enjoy the session.
The only little negative for me was that the materials were limited. One or two extras such as gems, pipe cleaners, felt, stickers anything really would have made things a little more interesting.

My daughter enjoyed the workshop although think someone demonstrating the models would have been good.
Also transportation needs to be considered as we were only offered a paper bag and when we got home the models had all stuck together as they weren’t dry (despite being placed carefully into bag and carried).

I had the greatest experience today with Julie. I cannot praise her enough for her patience, understanding and general positive support that she offered. I have never met someone in retail so willing to help and give the time I needed, not only did she support me through the workshop but she also went on to carefully select fabric with me and give me advice on how to complete the project I would like. She recommended products that would give me the best results and invested time into getting to know me. I felt safe and comfortable in her company, she even went on to say I could return at any point she is in work if I need further advice or support and bring my sewing machine. As a complete novice with Cricut this introduction to the difference in machines was just what I needed. Claire was professional and knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had prepared. I enjoyed the fact that there wasn't a set agenda and it was bespoke to my needs. The course was really useful. Although I didn’t manage to find out about converting images to svg and layering them in design space, Claire was really helpful and is finding out how to do it for me. I learned about using printable vinyl which I wasn’t aware of previously and got to look at cricut access too. Treat myself and friend to macrame wall hanging class at Preston. Our tutor Megan couldn’t have been more lovely. The presentation of the kit was great and contents were good quality. The only downside was the length of time as we had so much cutting to do it took nearly half the class. Maybe string could be precut for one of the pieces we had. But we really enjoyed it.

Arrived and was expected for beginners cricut workshop. Claire was pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable.
Unfortunately, we were on the shop floor for the workshop, so kept being interrupted by customers and staff.
I was shown how to do something from beginning to end, but did not have the chance to try for myself, so not sure how much I would retain.
I would probably need another lesson or 2 to get to grips with it.

Wasn’t what I thought it would be. Wasn’t a taught class, we were given the wreath making box sets and told to crack on. The ‘teacher’ told us there was no point in telling us what to do. Her second piece of advice was to group things in three. She was very nice, just very little guidance. Others at the group were asking for help, saying they weren’t craft and were ignored. We were also cramped at the table. Would have been cheaper to buy the kit and do it at home. Not good value for money as it cost £60 for my daughter and I.

It was a great experience, really enjoyed creating our wreaths. There were 11 taking part, and I think a bigger area to work on and in would have been better. Also a few of us were surprised there wasn't some initial tutorial, to show us the basics. Quite a few of the participants like myself hadn't really done and crafting before. Overall though good value for money and I will check out further workshops to attend

When I booked it said on line maximum four people a bit suprised to find eleven people around the table. A bit cramped but did have fun and lots of extra bits provided and the coordinator very helpful.

My granddaughter really enjoyed the session. She went straight home and, with help, made a little top for a cuddly toy! Julie was patient and gave her confidence to have a go. We will definitely book another class at a future date.9

Enjoyed the course at the Preston store but the location of the table was bad very draughty from the door and when customers couldn't find any members of staff they kept interrupting our workshop to ask our trainer, table needs to be tucked away in a corner I have booked onto 2 more workshops so hopefully table will have moved by then

I really enjoyed this class the teacher was really nice and helpful. The Preston store is a nice venue. I knocked off one star because I did feel that we needed a little more guidance in the positioning of the decorations on the wreath, maybe pictures of different wreath ideas to copy. Also I felt the wreath it’s self could have been a bit bigger as it was only a small/medium size. Other than that I really enjoyed it and would recommend.

I did a double class as I had not used a machine before . I have booked another session for next week , as I was so impressed with my tutor . We covered a variety of techniques which is relevant to my crafting . She even helped me to decide which machine to buy , then very kindly helped me to set it up . She went above and beyond ,as did all the staff . They are a fab team ,and very helpful .

This was a great way to spend an hour. Helen was fun and easy to get along with, in fact quite a few staff dropped in to say hi and look at the finished craft. All the materials were in the box just ready to start (even the glue gun!) which made the workshop great value for money. Will definitely be signing on for another course very soon. Thanks to you all at Preston.

Was good to be reminded about threading, bobbins, maintenance and different stitches as long time since I’ve used a machine
The hour flew by with plenty of opportunities to have a go yourself
Would recommend to anyone starting out

Claire who took the workshop was good but I don’t think the venue (middle of a busy store) was ideal in fact it was very poor. I was cold and it was draughty due to the main door constantly opening and closing. No materials were used or provided but Claire kindly ran through various mediums made by Cricut. I don’t think it was value for money due to the above criticisms, no reflection on Claire as she made the best of things to help us learn. I learned a number of new things about design space that previously I had only heard of.

Friendly, helpful teacher in very small group. Came away with a good supply of materials to make further cards, so good value for money. However, the colour choices were extremely disappointing. I chose a blue themed box expecting a rich, royal blue with gold or silver. Instead, the colours were wishy washy pale blues, mauves & a very uninspiring maroon, though there were some nice silver designs. The colours did not sit particularly well on either the brown or white cards, unlike the stunning red, green & gold designs & embellishments in the red package. The included gold & red faux holly embellishments did not go with anything in the 'blue' pack. Had I had the red pack, I would have been thrilled to bits! The scissors were far too small for adults to use effectively. The hour passed far too quicklyan extra 30 minutes would have been very useful.

The lady in charge of the course was very pleasant and helpful. There is clearly a limit to how much can be covered in just one hour. I did feel that the instruction leaflet was disappointing with poor quality images.

Nicola was an excellent tutor, taking the workshop at my pace and explaining everything very clearly. Although it was held in the middle of the store, I didn't feel uncomfortable. It was helpful to be able to take the work pieces home.
