I wanted to learn how to crochet and was a complete beginner but I do know how to knit. My teacher was excellent. She was really kind and helpful. The shop was quiet and it was no problem having our class there. All the materials were suitable. Some people said that the yarn and the needle weren't the best but they were fine for me. I learned how to make a chain and two stitches. I think it was very good value for money. I just liked the whole thing and would definitely recommend it and want to do more.

Giving individual one to one when required as some are quicker at picking it up than others

The materials provided could were ok, more colourful wool even a choice of hook handles as i found the one hook given very chunky with no grip handle and the wool threads were loose

I shall continue different classes with diffrrent teaching skills would be good

Took my daughter and her friend in the Easter holidays as they are both love crafts. I also did the session. Sian was lovely, helped us all and the we all throughly enjoyed it! The session took place upstairs of the venue, and so it was nice and quiet. Great value for money as also received the materials to crochet with.

30 minutes feels very rushed especially when it's for children. I don't think it's fair on staff or customers. My daughter enjoyed it and pleased with what she made.

I’ve taken my 5 year old granddaughter to so many of these wonderful workshops and they are such fun for the kids! So well organised and always lots of different materials provided. We made a pipe cleaned wand with decorative beads and Holly loved it as she was able to make her name on it with beads!

I took my 5 year old granddaughter to the canvas painting workshop and she absolutely loved it! There were clear instructions given and everything was provided and ready on our arrival.

We really enjoyed the craft. Two 7 year olds and a 3 year old plus the parents. The instructions were easy to follow or you could improvise and create your own thing. The end result was great. I found it quite relaxing. The only thing, I wish it was a little longer than 30 mins. Luckily there wasn't a session booked straight after us, otherwise we wouldn't have finished in time.
We'll definitely book again!

Mother, daughter time, booked on the crochet for beginners, we really enjoyed our class, our teacher was great and we accomplished what we aimed for, a crochet square. I really enjoyed this workshop. Ellie was lovely and explained things really well.
She taught 3 different methods.
The workshop was great value for money as you get the kit to take home.
I would advise you wear a decent apron, bring a hairband and one or two boxes to take your art home in.

I did enjoy it and was pleased with the bags but was a bit disappointed in that there was less instruction than I expected (very minimal and not that well explained for total beginners) and it seemed a bit odd that we could not keep the pens? For the amount we paid I would have expected to keep them especially as they were partially used so no good to anyone else.

We got it at a discount at £24 if I had paid more I'd have been disappointed. The Lady that ran the workshop I believe was the manager but she didn't introduce herself and she grumbled about Xmas which did not set the right mood. No creative skill needed, very simple task. One pair of scissors and wire cutters between 4 people.

There were four of us and we really enjoyed the class. Ellie was a great teacher and she showed us pictures of some of her artwork which was fantastic. A very talented lady. She started by showing us how to paint swatches of the pain colours in our palette and then moved onto techniques- wet on wet and wet on dry etc which was great as that was what I wanted to learn. We then moved onto painting. Even though she ran over by at least 15 minutes, we only had time to paint the bumble bee which was a shame as we were all enjoying ourselves.

I went to Harlow Hobbycraft and had an hours tutorial with Donna about sewing machines. It was very enjoyable and Donna went through all the different machines and I discussed what I was looking for. Once decided I was shown all through the machine, all the attachments and how to operate it. The tutorial was Very good value for money and I came away with a machine I’m happy with.

Donna absolutely fantastic very patient and didn’t mind how many times she repeated or showed you something. My daughter got frustrated and upset but Donna calmed her and reassured her that she could do crochet and WOW she certainly did in fact she found the more advanced stitches easier This surprised us both . Would highly recommend Donna to any beginner. So enjoyed our lesson and the time flew by but the knowledge we came away with is priceless

My tutor was Donna, a very experienced crafter. I have recently bought a 32S Hobbycraft sewing machine and wanted to learn all about it. Donna talked me through and showed me every function of the machine from identifying all the parts and threading the cotton, to doing fancy stitches, buttonholes and inserting zips. She had given me so much confidence. I can’t wait to get started.

Lorraine was fab so enthusiastic about art. Chatted to my 11yr old about different ideas on art she cld try. The workshop was fab all organised when we arrived. Perfect for my 11 yr old and 8 yr old. Admittedly I did arrive late. Didn’t fine I did terribly well while I was there. No fault of the person taking the class but I think because she two left ganders and one right, she got a little fraught by the end of the class.

3 of us, one arrived really late and the teacher was basically playing catch up as we were working at different speeds
Good to learn basic stickers but really need led to know where to go from there, what are they used for , how to find further info, how to move on.

The Crochet class was great. The teacher was very patient and took her time to explain every step. Repeating the process as many times as we needed. I am now confident that I have grasped the basic steps and I am looking forward to trying more. We left with 2 big balls of wool, a crochet hook and printed instructions. All kept together in a fabric bag.

Donna was an amazing and very patient teacher. I had booked a class for myself and two daughters (11 and 7 years). My 11 year old is left handed and we were all novices. Donna taught us all, even crocheting left handed to show my eldest what it should look like.

We were provided with 2 types of yarn and a crocheting hook and a set of instructions all in tote bag, all of which we got to keep.

Donna taught us three types of stitches in a way all 3 of us can understand. My youngest was so inspired she crocheted chains all the way home.

Our teacher was friendly and helpful! Our only criticism was that putting the pipe cleaner rainbows into the clay was very tricky, even for the adults present. The beads made the rainbows heavy and so they kept falling over. Other than that, very enjoyable!

Donna was great, really knowledgeable and helpful.
The Harlow store itself is under-going a re-design so the “demonstration/classroom” space was not set up sadly.
Perhaps should have mentioned when booking to bring own fabric, cotton etc. Also if you want a “how to” on a particular model of sewing machine to ask for this information when booking, rather than on arrival as the confirmation email suggests.
The experience was definitely good value – Donna’s worth every penny!
I learnt a lot about all the different functions, fabrics and needle choices for the perfect finish.

She made such an effort to talk and get to know the children aswel. Very lovely lady and just fantastic with the children. My daughter (who doesn't always enjoy these things and wants to do it her own way) absolutely loved it and wants to do it again.

Being the only person in the Easter Bonnet making workshop meant having the teacher's full attention, along with extra materials and plenty of help.
For £8 an enjoyable experience and a great looking self made bonnet to take home made it really good value for money - although this might not be quite as good had there been others on the workshop at the same time.

Hannah the teacher was very informative and explained how the different machines worked and the accessories required depending on what I was going to make.

Kat, the lady that ran the workshop, was absolutely amazing. She was smiley and happy, and was fantastic with the children.
Overall, it was definitely worth the money! We were tucked away upstairs in the store on a lovely, brightly-lit table. The workshop was easy for all children to follow, and they had lots of fun doing so. We were sticky with glue by the end of it, and the children were proudly showing off their makes. Entirely worth the money and fun for all!

Wonderful Christmas wreath class with Ellie, such a friendly person made you feel at ease and nothing was to much trouble would love to do another class with her. And the other people doing the class was so friendly as well which makes all the different. The wreath was very good value for money you get such a lot in your boxs. Time went so fast but managed to finish the wreath. Second wreath class for me did the autumn one as well this year.

Even though I do alot of crafts I've never used air dry clay. Ellie was able to give me lots of tips & was very helpful. Even though the reminder email the night before said bring a rolling pin (mine was way to big but only one I had) Ellie had a better size rolling pin that I could borrow. Apart from rolling pin everything was in the pack that I needed & had plenty to take home so that I could try out more ideas at home. I would advise bringing an apron as never gave it a thought but clay dust did easily come off my black skirt. Thank you Ellie for a lovely time. Your a star

Lisa was very welcoming, asking the children their names. She explained the process, then detailed and demonstrated the steps. She was patient and encouraging; my grand-daughters enjoyed it very much and were delighted with the results.
They'd been to a workshop in the summer and were so taken with Hobbycraft generally that they each brought collage pictures for the staff.
The materials were easy to use and produced excellent spiders.
No. 1 grand-daughter declared it "The best day ever."

Had my workshop with Lisa today. Lisa was very well informed about the machine and started me off slowly and I was able to ask questions as we went along. probably too many but Lisa was very patient. I feel able to use the machine starting with the basics from the workshop today. I was also advised on what I would need/require now and in the future.
All in all very worthwhile and a big thank you to Lisa and the staff at Harlow as all are very helpful and knowledgable.
We actually got interrupted twice by a member of public but Lisa was very patient and advised him on what he wanted

My grand-daughters (aged 4) loved the workshop.and are very proud of their creations. They enjoyed the challenge of following instructions, but also of being told that once they had the basic shapes, there were no rules about the details.

Ellie was very patient, encouraging and enthusiastic and learned all the children's names quickly, making it a much more personal experience.

I would recommend this workshop.

Donna was a very good teacher and very patient.
We went through the areas I was looking for help with to use my sewing machine.

Our boy absolutely loved the papier-mâché class! Once again, Fiona made the entire process seamless for him and the other attendee.

Great quality materials (I had wondered how we’d get to build something in an hour) and a great teacher in Fiona. Our boy can be fussy when he doesn’t feel comfortable and he was completely at ease. Thank you!

The teacher was great with the kids, really clear with her explanations and very helpful. My kids loved the feel of the clay and they enjoyed creating their sea creatures. We had loads to take home so take a box with lid if you can to carry them in. We were given a box which was great but as we had further to travel a lid on top was handier. Would recommend this workshop, it was great fun and my kids loved it!

Fiona was excellent with the children, and our boy had a really great time.

The number of children in the session worked well. The quality of the clay etc they used was all very impressive, and given the £5 it didn’t feel like Fiona/hobby craft were being stingy with the materials.

All in all, really pleased and we’ll be back! Thank you.

Absolutely loved this beginners class. Donna was lovely, patient and showed me what to do every step of the way. I wish the class went on for extra weeks so that I could really reinforce my learning but I loved it any way.

The children enjoyed themselves but the glue didn’t stick and the scissors didn’t cut very well, so a little disappointing considering we were in a craft shop. The assistant did her best to help.

The lady that ran the workshop was great and very friendly. Unfortunately this workshop was far too basic and more suited to someone that hadn’t yet bought a machine. It was also taught on an iPad which meant some functions of design space were not viewable and also others not suitable for a Joy.

Spent a lovely hour and a half with Donna who cover all I need to know about cross stitch, showed me all the stitches and how to present the finished article. The kit which accompanies this class has all u need to finish the Love Birds sampler. All in all it was excellent value for money and I got to meet yet another excellent tutor at the Harlow store.

Donna also showed me the other kits available to buy and I ended up purchasing a Dachshund cross stitch ‘patch’ - so cute. Lorraine on the service desk processed this transaction for me.

Got some great tips for different pouring techniques.
Time went super fast.
The only downside is getting the wet artwork home.

My teacher was Donna and she was friendly and welcoming . The staff were surprised that I had been instructed by email Not to bring my own machine so had to find a machine the same as the one I own.
I had prepared questions and Donna worked through all of them. I was not offered the chance to use the machine myself but I was able to watch Donna demonstrate how to select and use the different stitches, also how to maintain the machine.

The class turned out to be one-to-one as no other participants attended the session. This meant that I was able to ask specific questions about my needs and get all the information I needed from the session.
My instructor was incredibly friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcomed and very comfortable throughout the whole session.
I would definitely consider attending a further session at this center.

Fluid art workshop was great fun with Tracy as our instructor. Fluid art is very messy so I would recommend bringing along your art apron to protect your clothes . The kit contained everything you needed to make wonderful Fluid art except it didn't come with any instructions so if you were bought this as a gift you wouldn't know what to do. Great , messy fun was had by all

Teacher (Donna in Harlow) was excellent. She started by asking what I wanted to get out of the session, then proceeded to go through everything I wanted to know. She had me practise everything several times until I felt comfortable. Left feeling much more knowledgeable and keen to start using my sewing machine in earnest.

The teacher was great and it was a nice hour out of a busy week to sit down and do something for me. The great way it was presented in a box with everything you needed. Except for sissors. Was helpful and no arguing over who wanted what to complete their work. Would like to have been able to do a follow-up workshop to paint them in say a weeks time. Other wise a great idea.

Brilliant workshop. We were each given a box full of all the items needed to make 3 glass baubles and 6 clear plastic baubles, little christmasy items and fake snow to fill them and a small hot glue gun . Excellent value for money. The teacher was lovely and the session was long enough for us to make 3 glass filled baubles and 3 plastic ones. Any left over bits and bobs including the glue gun we could take home with us. Fabulous fun time was had by all of us

Not what I was expecting really.This project takes an awful lot more time than the 90 minutes allowed in the workshop.I wanted to come away with the finished article but have had to bring it home to finish + all the mess that goes with it.I don't have room at home to do this sort of thing that's why I enrolled in the class.
The kit I thought was very good value for money but I fear it will be another project that gets shoved to the back of a cupboard.

An enjoyable in store taster lesson of brush lettering. Our Hobbycraft staff member, Emma, was lovely and the kit was very good (metalic brush pens, good quality A4 paper pad, A5 note book and tags). Lots of home practice needed to perfect the skill though!

The box was a great idea to put everything in and the ideas were good.
The pictures on the instructions werent great and a bit difficult to see.

Donna the trainer was very knowledgeable. She was able to guide me through the practical steps of how to understand a dress pattern, how to choose right needles, deal with stretchy fabrics and machine tension. She packed a lot in the hour. A sign telling other customers that a workshop is underway to say the trainer dealing with multiple customer interruptions.

You asked in advance what projects I wanted to work in but that info was not passed on to the lady running it. The internet was down in the shop so we had to talk in theory about the two things I wanted to work on rather than work through in practice. The lady was helpful but hampered by WiFi issues.
