Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

My 7 years old daughter loved this workshop.
She already uses a lot pipe cleaners to make her own creations but she still got the opportunity to learn something new thanks to Anna who was conducting the workshop. Anna adapted to my daughter's expectations very well and taught her how to make a flower with explanations of every steps and the rational behind them so she could apply these skills to other projects and repeat the same process on her own and the result was great!

This was a workshop for making little animals - one rabbit, one sheep - was really good, and very good value. Watching the children follow the teachers directions to make the animals was amazing as they developed bit by bit. The teacher showed them in simple steps how to create the animals: easy to follow.

We all had a fabulous time. The children were very absorbed in creating their initialled canvas. The instructions were very clear and the children produced amazing artwork. My background is design so it was lovely to have extra conversations with the teacher who gave me some great photography tips! We would highly recommend going to a class. Andrea was an amazing coach, she talked me through how to do my button holes as I had requested and has so much patients and knowledge. After my session Andrea helped me to buy my pattern, material and matched my cotton.
I would used Hobby Craft again if I needed any help with my sewing.

The lady running the workshop was absolutely lovely, very patient and even though the session overran and my 6 year old was slow at threading things there was no pressure or rushing, she let us sit and finish all of the crafts. It is great that the craft session is upstairs where it is much quieter and less stressful for those who don't cope with noisy busy environments. She made some gorgeous Christmas decorations and really enjoyed it.

Staff were lovely as usual but there was not enough time to paint the pegs so we didn't even get onto making baubles at all. When we got home to look at the rest of the stuff the baubles supplied in my daughter's pack were cracked.

Teacher clearly explained what is needed to build a star wreath. Equipment provided was a good selection but not enough to finish the project. I am an absolute beginner so just one hour was not long enough. Class size suited my learning style.

It would have been useful if aprons had been provided or at least mentioned in the class information that an apron would be useful.
The lift was unavailable and this should have been relayed as some people have difficulty with stairs

Really enjoyable hour that flew over!
Everything we needed and more was set out when we arrived. Step by step instructions given by a very experienced trainer with plenty of scope to use our own imaginations.

Loved the spider making. The grandchildren enjoyed interacting with the host, who explained everything so the kids understand . I was pleased the class was held away from the shop floor so had privacy. There was plenty of supplies, the kids wanted to make more so I bought what we had used for them to make extra at home.

Dee was really lovely and easy to talk to. She had amazing knowledge of the cricut machines and how everything worked - I felt in very capable hands.

The hour went very quickly and I suspect I may return for another course once I have found my feet on my own machine at home. She gave me the basics to get started and find my way around design space.

Venue was perfect - within the store but very secluded on upper level so no distractions during the class.

I would definitely recommend the course to anyone who wants to feel confident getting started or who needs expert advice on any topic/project.

Our workshop was with Anna who was really friendly and creative. She had some great tips for making the wreath look professional and finished. All of the equipment was set up and we had plenty of room. I really liked the natural things provided for the wreath. I think it is difficult to gauge what materials people are going to want to use on the wreathes but I was happy enough with what we got and I added some extras on myself.
I think Anna had lots of great tips so I wish the session could have been longer to enable more time to watch her demonstrate first.

Lesson was good picked up a few basics I didn’t know, lady who taught lesson was very friendly and extremely helpful as realised machine I had there was an issue with with no fault of my own and helped pick a new sewing machine and only ended up paying the difference. We really enjoyed making the summer clay creatures. Anna was a fantastic teacher. She was very patient, great at explaining the step by step instructions and demonstrating what to do. The area used for the workshop was nice and quiet without distractions. The air dry clay is a lovely product to use. Easy to handle and mess free. My Son loved the smell of it! He enjoyed making a bumble bee and a dragon fly and even got the left over clay to take home along with his creations. Fantastic value for money.

This workshop was awesome. Pen skills is not something I possess and if I am honest I didn't think this would go well! My teacher Anna was great and quickly identified which bits I needed more work on. We had to reschedule this session as Daisy had been poorly and Hobbycraft were so accommodating. It was lovely when we arrived that the first thing that Andrea, the manager, did was to ask Daisy if she was feeling better. Debbie, who ran the session, was excellent. She was friendly, patient and helped us to create our canvas, giving us great ideas, tips and tricks. When I told Daisy we had to write a review, she said “10 out of 10 - it was amazing!”

Angela, our teacher, was very friendly and helpful. She showed me and my granddaughter how to doodle with the wax crayons and then apply the paint, and also how to change the colour of the paints by mixing them. Took my two grandchildren to the class on Saturday. They two girls aged 10 and 12 years. The course was very well run by Angela who adapted her teaching to what each child was capable of achieving. To give an example she helped the older one mix different paints to acheive colours and finish she wanted . The course seemed expensive but they came home with a box containing a full set of paints ,all the implements needed and three convases to complete. They both produce two canvases in the wokshop-one which is framed.The artwork looked very professional ( I could be biased being their grand mother) but Angela provided excellent tuition. We all had a delightful and productive time.

I booked a lesson as I'm an absolute beginner with Cricut. Dee was friendly and approachable and knowledgeable about Cricut and showed me how to get started as well as plenty of tips.
We made two small crafts in store and I feel more confident about using the machine now and the software.
I will book another class in future to help me along as I progress.

Janice has the patience of a saint! She’s an excellent teacher, clearly explained the basic techniques and was very helpful when I managed to (frequently) get myself in a mess. Pleased to say I eventually got there and have already added, at home, to the granny square she guided me to make!
The pack provided was excellent with everything I needed to get started and sufficient wool to continue after the class.
I’m so glad I attended this workshop as I would definitely not have been able to get started trying to crochet on my own without somebody there to help me.

Good value because of all the materials received in the kit. Out teacher was very knowledgeable and gave great hints and tips when we were struggling with complicated letters. An hour though is not enough time to get through all the exercises to feel confident enough to try out after the class so it ended up being rushed. I feel 1.5 to 2 hours would be a better timing to allow everyone to have a good go at all the letters.

This was my second time trying this class as the first didn’t go very well. This time around I was the only attendee and therefore had the whole session to concentrate on the areas I was struggling with. The leader was very kind, helpful and patient and explained everything really well. I produced a simple granny square and came away relatively confident in my ability to be able to replicate something similar at home and maybe even try something a little more difficult.

Debbie at Hobbycraft was fantastic, really knowledgable and full of ideas both practical and creative. The marbling effect was easy to create but colours and further effects could really enhance the end result. The kit contained a pink and blue paint but Debbie made sure there was a green and red available as it’s the festive season and we were decorating baubles after all! Highly recommend for a mid-morning class to kick start the festive season!

We went through all of the icons on cricut access, which was very informative.
The lady gave me time to make notes as my memory is terrible, which was also a big help. I would definitely recommend the class to others.

We had an excellent time at the crafting session using the infusible ink. Our teacher was extremely knowledgable using the Cricut and she was lovely with my 9 year old twins. We all made a great bag with designs of our own choice and a coaster each. The teacher even stayed after our allocated time to make sure we got everything finished. I would recommend these sessions and we are looking to book more in the future.

Teacher was very approachable & easy to talk to, accepting my nervous sewing. I had asked to be shown how to sew stretchy material,, which I was, what I appreciated was that the teacher freely told me that she had never sewn with stretchy material herself, so we were learning together. Although I could have been annoyed about being shown a method which the tutor was not proficient in, in fact it went the other way & made me more relaxed. Not only was I shown the best method, but I was also shown some other techniques such as French seams & seams using hidden binding, things which I would never have tried myself. All in all it was a great lesson, well worth the cost and I would be quite happy to return for another lesson in some other technique.

Teacher was lovely, the store isn’t great for disabled people as you are expected to stand queuing for classes at the base of the stairs! Limited mobility and issues with standing meant feeling quite unwell at the start. Materials were helpful and the staff member was knowledgeable.

I had a brilliant workshop with Dee at the Team Valley branch. It turned out my machine was faulty so I got a replacement as well. She showed me how to do the tasks I'd asked to learn and a little more besides. She also gave me an extra half hour as by the time we'd established my machine was faulty it had taken up a good chunk of time. Highly recommended and thank you so much!

We had a great time, my daughter and l attended , with her living in guide post and me in Chester-le-street it was a venue we both could attend.The teacher was good, she knew her stuff and made the time fly.
The venue was okay.
The materials good quality and was able to buy extra's after the lesson, would recommend if wanting to have a very light, enjoy able time with a skill being trained - they only regret is how quickly the time passed.

It was good to be one to one so I could follow properly and the teacher explained each step. I would have liked to know more about how to mix the paint and exactly what I would need to buy but it came ready mixed so that was disappointing. However I did enjoy learning how to do it and am pleased with the finished results. It is quite addictive so I will be doing more at home

Ashley was brilliant, very friendly made me feel at ease straight away. The venue was ok, upstairs out of the way but a bit untidy as the upstais area is for storage. I was disappointed not to get 'hands on' all materials were there to look at and pick up.
Do I think it was value for money? Not really, I expected to walk away with something physical - even a little certificate or having made something, however, I did walk away with more confidence in using my cricut,
and Ashley covered all of my questions.

Ashley was fabulous it was lovely to speak with someone who had knowledge and understanding of what I needed and also to discuss and exchange things regarding creating and what you can and can’t do. If I was a complete beginner I would have still understood everything that was shown in the lesson. I walked away with better knowledge of design space especially the welding and also a better understanding of infusible inks and the result you get using cheaper materials that really aren’t made for infusible ink projects and the correct materials and getting the best result for your product.

I found this difficult in an hour and a half. I felt we went straight into a pattern when we should have practised the stitches by repetition until we had got used to how the 'hook' worked and felt. The tutor was great but I think the course needs some adjustment.

Small group size (3) which was good. However, very difficult to get the hang of in 1.5 hours, but maybe that's just me! Having said that, none of the group came away with anything to show. Hopefully I can remember enough to practice at home. Think I will really enjoy it if I get the hang of it!

I had a great time with Stephanie today. She was so patient and her knowledge of Cricut Maker was excellent. She was able to answer all my questions and we quickly had a good rapport going on. She anticipated my needs and supplied the knowledge to enable me to have the confidence to have a go! Not being a card maker or scrap booker I couldn't really see how I would use this gift from my husband but once Stephanie knew I work with fabrics she was soon able to show me how I would use my Maker to good use in my quilting. Best £5 I've spent in ages.The venue was the Team Valley, loads of space and nice and quiet.
Stewart the trainer was excellent.I had previously looked at videos(some dreadful) but having someone to answer your questions and offer tips he had come across, was amazing. He was also very knowledgeable and patient.
I can't recommend this workshop and Stewart high enough.

It was a great lesson and the teacher was very knowledgeable. It was a bit difficult to see the iPad at times as we were at opposite side but this can be easily rectified. We went the different sections but I should of made notes as it went on as I couldn’t remember some of the things some basic hand outs would be useful.

Anna was an amazing teacher she has a real passion for crafting and this came through when she was talking to us. The venu was clean, warm and covid safe with sanitisers available throughout the store. The wreath making kit had everything needed to complete the project including additional glue sticks for the glue gun and being instore we where offered additional items to make our wreaths unique. I would say the class was excellent value for money given the new skills I learnt that I wouldn't have known if I had just picked up the kit in store to complete at home. Skills like imagining the placement of items to find the correct orientation of the wreath as they are not completely circular. Building up from the base and thinking 3d not 2d depending on how high the wreath would be hanging. Overall I had a great day out with my Mam and we came home with 2 amazing hand crafted unique wreaths and kits to make more of a different style

The teacher was lovely, very friendly. A relaxed class I really enjoyed. I felt more time would have been a benefit as it was a little rushed. Also not alot of room for our supplies which the teacher was aware of. Otherwise I loved our packs and have a beautiful wreath I have learned how to make now.

Anna was very friendly, informative and helpful. I found the workshop a pleasure and very relaxing. From arriving, Anna was welcoming and explained about the workshop and what to expect. She showed me to my seat where everything was set up and we all had plenty of room to craft and feel comfortable. The craft box itself was a joy to open, beautifully packaged with everything I needed for the workshop. The workshop and craft box were both very well thought through and I will definitely look to do more over the coming months. Gifting these workshops is a thoughtful and unique gift for friends and family too as you can arrange to have the craft box sent directly to the lucky recipient who can then enjoy the workshop remotely online. All round an excellent idea, service and new pastime.

Lovely box of materials and felt safe in the workspace. Disappointed that the expectation was that we wouldn’t finish it during the class - this wasn’t made clear in the booking information. For me, the whole point of booking a class is that the item is complete to take home or it doesn’t get completed!

Janice was so welcoming and really helpful when I struggled to get the lid on one of the decorations. Janice provided us with lots of examples of work and had everything prepared for when we arrived. The box itself was full of little Christmas figures and plenty of things to decorate with. Amazing value for money especially with a glue gun and glue sticks included.

I attended the cloche workshop as it was something new for me to try. It was good value for money as the box I was given was full of items needed to fill not one or two decorations but 4 of varying sizes with detachable lids and a box of 8 round ones that split in half to hold smaller moulded figures.

The young lady taking the workshop was knowledgeable and friendly and answered any questions very well. I’ll be seeing what non seasonal workshops might be available next year.

I was very disappointed when I received an email late afternoon the day before to advise that stock had not been delivered to the store so were unable to offer the class I had booked.
On arrival we were met by Anna, who is a lovely staff member and was brilliant with the girls. She had asked if we had recieved the email and explained that she had prepared alternative things for the girls to do. I was very impressed with the gesture and the girls had a great morning.
Very pleased to be offered a refund as well. I would definitely consider booking another class for the girls in the future.

The bag of goodies was also lovely. Unfortunately we dropped and smashed the skull whilst at McDonalds but will be back to get another to paint

I am very keen on learning to sew and was lucky enough to have received a brand new sewing machine for Christmas. Since then, it has sat in its box as, being a total beginner, I was terrified of the machine. Due to covid and lockdowns I was unable to find a beginners course. I have watched the dvd and have read the instruction booklet, both of which came with the machine, but I prefer having an expert to guide me. As soon as I spotted this course I immediately booked on and I was not disappointed. Andrea, our guide in the Gateshead store, was kind, patient and had a good sense of humour and I soon picked up on her demonstrations of how to thread the machine, fill a bobbin and start sewing. Within 15 minutes I was sewing practice stitches and I then tried out different types of stitches, learned how to backstitch, sew around corners and even attempt to sew in a circle. The hour flew by and I left the workshop feeling much more confident, and no longer scared about using my machine. I had already signed up for the follow on one on one workshop, Learn to Sew, and will be attending that next week. I am already looking forward to it. I would recommend the workshop to any would-be sewist who feels nervous, or just wants to get started, and the workshops are such good value for money too.

Cock up to start with as no confirmation email, rang store to be told not to worry arrived to be told we weren't on list so insufficient boxes. Luckily they managed to locate some boxes for the weekend session which our party of three could use. Lady holding class was lovely. Think ,£35 overpriced when you could buy the kits for £10 and a glue gun for £5.
Would be hesitant about signing up for another course.

Ashley was excellent.Pleasant patient and very accommodating. Took 1 hr 30 minutes which was a good length of time. One hr would have been too short and having a longer time meany you were not rushing and could ensure a good finished result. Loved the actual face to face tuition as the last card we made would have been difficult to do if doing a Zoom class. Would suggest having some sheets inside with photos to give idea and the measurements for the different cards

The venue was very spacious. I would of preferred the tutor to of had a laptop as some of the things I asked about could not be done on an iPad. I came away from the class with a little bit more knowledge but not as much as I would of liked. The tutor was very polite and in my case I would say patient.

My son and I both really enjoyed the watercolour painting class. The kit was fantastic value, full of extras we didn’t need in the class and everything we could take home which is great.
