Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I was lucky to be able to have a one to one Paint pouring workshop with Emma.
Emma was extremely welcoming and put me at ease very quickly, explaining what we would be trying out and explaining the beautifully equipped materials box.
I was amazed at the amount of supplies provided both within the course box and extras on the table.
The workshop was exceptional value and I have already decided to do another workshop to possibly cover additional tips.

This was such a useful class, our teacher answered every question matching her responses to our abilities. I had previously been to an open demo, but this was so much more informative, as we could see the programmes available on the tablet, and how to use them. I went to a crochet beginners class at Hobbycraft in Chester & it was brilliant.

Gillian, the lady who taught us was fabulous and was so patient and kind.

There were 5 of us at the table which was great because it meant we each got plenty of time with Gillian one to one.

We learnt some basic stitches, how to crochet a line and then continue.

We got to choose two balls of wool & a crochet hook & given step by step guide to take home.

Would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn. Brilliant and value for money too.

We recently took our 4 year old granddaughter to a Pipe cleaner flower and wand workshop held by Deb.
She really enjoyed herself making them.
Deb was a natural, she clearly explained step by step what to do, then let our granddaughter express herself. She made a beautiful large flower and Heart ️ wand.
Our granddaughter went home a very happy little girl. Thankyou Deb, hope to be back again soon

We really enjoyed the beginner’s crochet lesson in Chester. Gillian was great, very clear with her instructions and corrected us if we went wrong. She offered us the chance to use different crochet hooks to find the best fit for the individual. We chose our own colours of wool and took the wool, hook and printed instructions home. One of us was a bit of a challenge due to being left handed but we figured it out somehow. The venue was great, Midweek, nice and quiet. It was a class of five, three of the people we had never met before but they were lovely and made the experience even better. We will keep practicing our new skills and hopefully create something beautiful soon, thank you Gillian.x

My sister booked this for me as a birthday gift. We had a great time. Gillian, our teacher was both enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She made learning the stitches easy for us to understand. We were able to choose two balls of wool and chooses from a range of hook. I’m looking forward to using these at home to practice!

Crochet class for beginners.
I was amazed at how quickly we picked up the various stitches.
Gillian was very patient and enthusiastic. She supported one to one when needed.
Two balls of wool and a crocheting hook was supplied.
There was a range of hooks to choose from, we were able to try them all and then decide which one to take home along with the balls of wool.
It would be a good idea to have a follow up class to learn how to read and follow patterns.

I took my 2 grandchildren age 4 & 6 to Hobbycraft clay bead rainbow class. The lady running the class (so sorry I forgot your name) was brilliant with all the kids. Very calm and helpful, thank you. There were lots of various coloured beads to thread onto pipe cleaners, then after twisting them, put clay to stand them up in.
The class lasted 1/2hr, which I felt was 10 mins short as we were rushing towards the end. However, we all enjoyed the class and have already booked onto further classes available at Hobbycraft.

My son bought me a voucher for Christmas as I'd shown interest in trying acrylic paint pouring. The workshop, run by Emma, was very informative, set at the right pace and she taught us 2 different paint pours. It was great to get help and advice from an experienced artist. I booked this workshop as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old. She really enjoyed it, myself and my husband were also very impressed. Emma who ran the workshop was brilliant, she was friendly, patient, really clear with the explanations and had a great knowledge of acrylic pouring techniques. The workshop was really good value for money, especially as my daughter got to keep the leftover kit. She's really looking forward to trying the techniques at home and is already looking for the next workshop!

Highly recommended. Excellent class, tutor friendly and knowledgeable, able to both talk and demonstrate at just the right pace with enough information to enable me as a complete beginner to produce 2 lovely canvases. In a week I can collect my art pieces which I was really happy with. I am so glad I booked this class, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad I also put old clothes on, an an old apron! Jade enjoyed the class it gave her a basic knowledge of using a sewing machine especially as she was being shown on the one she used bring given today as a birthday present. I did haven't take the lady aside to remind her that my daughter had not been given the machine yet, as she immediately asked " is this the machine she will be using " so I don't know if my daughter guessed she was getting one. That is my only negative not being discreet about that as I had said in my initial request.

Emma was outstanding again. I previously did the star wreath making class, so she had already taught me how to use the hot glue gun.

This came in handy when building up the base for my little figurines for the baubles.

The equipment was all laid out and ready. A fantastic template was given. I personally lost my mind with all the colours and ended up with weird looking decorations but my partner did cracking work and it will be his I link with the review.

I think anyone would enjoy creating these baubles as it's so much fun to do in the class and you get to take them home with you

I do think more time is required for the class to complete it as some painting needs to fry before you can complete steps.

I think the level of support and guidance offered was just right.

I can't thank Emma enough. I've done three Christmas decoration making classes and now want to order from Hobbycraft to try some at home too

Emma was phenomenal with the star wreath making class.

She had a template ready on display for us to do but was also open and encouraging to us being creative and designing our own version of we wanted.

The materials were all ready to use. I would not the clippers were all bar one of poor quality (though Emma noted the brand was a good make), the five of us struggled. Luckily, Emma had gave us the one she uses and the other one so we all got going.

The planned time was shorter than needed. An hour and a half would be perfect. Emma didn't rush us but we felt the need to allow her to prepare for the next class. It's good value for money and I would happily pay for the extra time for the class if needed.

Morgan did make an appearance when able to from the shop but was pulled frequently due to staffing. It was wonderful to hear Emma explain to Morgan about the class and running it while supporting us. Great dynamics.

I can't recommend it enough to be honest. I'm so pleased with the outcome as it's beautiful but the experience itself was excellent.

All the tools were laid out before we got there. There was a demonstration given by Emma and she was enthusiastic and positive throughout.

Fabulous class, thoroughly recommend for a novice. Our teacher at the Chester store was lovely, very welcoming, she didn't rush us and went at a good pace. She answered all our questions and had a lot of knowledge and great tips!
I was surprised to find that we could take home the remainder of the paint pouring kit that we didn't use up, definitely excellent value for money!
The quiet corner of the store meant we were not often disturbed by the general public too. I went with my mum and sister and they both loved it too (although we weren't expecting the paint to take a week to dry).

I really enjoyed the beginners crochet class. Sandra, our instructor was really pleasant, put us at our ease and so very helpful. I was an absolute beginner having tried, unsuccessfully, to teach myself from a book. I came away with a much better understanding of how to go about things and with a lot more practice, phopefully I will go on to really enjoy crochet as a hobby.

This was a really friendly and relaxed short class getting started with the very basics of crochet. It was really good to have hands on demonstration and feedback on how we were doing and the mistakes we were making and how to correct them. I now feel that I understand the basics of crochet and can practice and improve on my own with the materials and information provided on the course. Great teacher in Gillian. Feel I can make a good go of crocheting now. Preferred the metal crochet hook with the flat area rather than the round plastic crochet provided as the metal hook was much smoother to use. Issuing metal hooks is something you could improve

The teacher was very good. Explained everything well. The teacher was still on the tills at 10 am when the workshop should have started. From my understanding the workshop should be set before hand eg the sewing machine set before hand, on this occasion it wasn't. As a result the workshop started late. The teacher gave me the full hour. Over all s good workshop.

This was a gentle introduction to brush lettering. Our tutor, Bethany, was very knowledgeable and patient. I am not particularly arty, but did not feel any pressure to get everything right and was encouraged to practice and try different styles, techniques until I get one that suited me. I was pleased with what I did achieve and the starter pack enables me to continue practicing at home.
I will definitely do some more of these workshops, they are good value, an easy way to try something new and a little wellbeing treat.

A lovely session and the lady running the activity was a huge help with my nephew who is visually impaired. For the price (£24 for 3 chiĺdren) the session was quite short so a little overpriced but my children and nephew are pleased with their canvases.

Morgn who was running the workshop was very friendly and explained everything very easily. It was a fun afternoon with 2 other participants. I really enjoyed it. Only downsie is that the paint takes significant time to dry so we were asked to come back in a week to collect our masterpieces. However, I travelled 30 miles each way to take part in the workshop so its a significant distance to go to retrieve them.

Where do I begin - this course was exceptional. From an excellent Teacher to
products that far outweighed the cost of the course, I could not find one fault if I tried!

Our friendly teacher Emma was very knowledgeable, explained the process very clearly and answered every question asked of her in detail.

Paint pouring is a little messy but that's part of the fun of it and I would highly recommend anyone thinking about it to give it a try.

I was very impressed with the overall experience and am hoping to book another course with Emma and also a Cricut course. The machine has been sat in the box for far too long!

Well done everyone and as the saying goes - I'll be back!

I attended a paint pouring workshop on Saturday 1st July @ Chester Retail Park. Emma the tutor was lovely, very knowledgeable and friendly. The materials we were given were amazing. I was so pleased with them and we got to take the leftovers home. I would highly recommend these workshops. The only thing I would suggest for improvement is the fact that’s it’s set up on the shop floor so maybe should be screened off some how because customers kept coming over to the tutor to ask for materials to be cut and other enquiries,

I enjoyed the brush lettering class. Rob was a friendly instructor and there were 4 of us learning how to write alphabet letters using the brush markers. The hour flew past and I would have liked a longer session so that Rob could have demonstrated more writing techniques.
I like that we were each given a box of materials to use in class and then take home to practice what we had learnt.
Overall an enjoyable learning experience which I would recommend.

What a great experience, on arrival, was greeted by Rob.
Then went on to describe the basics and how to prepare the pouring paints.
We then proceeded to do a couple of pourings each, accompanied with tips and advice on how to get great results.
I came away after producing two lovely pictures, and with the confidence to continue at home.

My daughter who is 8 really enjoyed it and felt very Christmassy when we left!

We really enjoyed the halloween clay making class
The clay is very easy to work with and has a great choice of colours. Looking at the packet I think they can be mixed together to make other colours too but I haven’t tried this.
The lady taking the class was very helpful and knowledgeable and made the effort to remember the children's names which I thought was nice.
Venue was great apart from there are no toilet facilities (toilets used to be available at this store a few years ago) which can be difficult with children. The top floor, where the class took place is also very hot.
We’re are looking forward to our Christmas.

Had a warm welcome from Morgan who showed us the workshop table. The clay was lightweight and very easy to use for little fingers.
We had the time to make to make a few sea creatures, so a little family just like us!
We learnt how to make a sea urchin by twisting and curling the clay and added detail with spots and eyes.
My daughter liked being in store to make things and was delighted by the fuss made by staff.

I've had 2 lessons with Gillian now and both have been really great. She is patient, explains things well, repeats if I don't understand (I'm a novice), has lots of great ideas, tips and tricks of the trade, and is able to answer every question I have. She is obviously hugely experienced and I feel I am benefitting from that. She has encouraged/inspired me to try new things even with my limited experience.

One thing which would help to improve even further is a point for the store to note.

Could the store tell Gillian in advance of the lesson what it is that I am seeking to cover? I did state this in my booking, but the store didn't pass it on until Gillian arrived in store the very day of the lesson, whereas if they told her in advance she would have been able to print off some patterns for me to use which would enhance the lesson even more. I received a phone call a few days before my class and was asked “ what did I specifically want to learn?”
I added that it was to learn how to do labels and then write using the pen in the joy machine with writable vinyl.
The young girl who helped me today was very patient and good but it wasn’t her fault that there was no writable vinyl to use on the class. I suggested to take some off the shelves and use but that was not acted upon. The young girl then showed me on card but it didn’t actually work brilliantly unfortunately. I feel slightly let down by this as the class cost me £15 and I still haven’t tried the writable vinyl.

This was a very relaxed, but informative session. It covered the basic functions of Design Space and touched on some of the more advanced. Bethany was very friendly and knowledgeable and adapted the course to meet my requirements. I would recommend this course to anyone that is new to Cricut and I felt is was excellent value for money.

I went to a Cricut lesson at Hobbycraft and it was SO helpful. I worked with Steph and she was so nice and the what she taught was easy to understand. If you have bought a Cricut for your child this is a good place for you to learn as I found it very helpful and I'm only 14.

Met Steph at the Chester store. We hit it off f straight away. She was very chatty, enthusiastic and knowledge about Cricut. The venue was very suitable as all the equipment and materials are set up there ready for you to use. When you know nothing about a subject, she very quickly was able to put a plan together to show me what I could do in the hour we were together. I learn about the different machines . What products I could work with, different vinyls for use with different subjects. Setting up and using the machine and producing 2 different projects. Plenty of time for questions and I absolutely loved it.

The starter set is huge. We all completed two pieces in the class and this took up all the time but good to be able to take away all our remaining set for more pouring at home. Plenty of space at the class and even Christmas music in the background. Great to see some art that our tutor Rob had prepared already. Collection of art was advised a few days later to allow for drying. Art felt a bit oily so I sealed with product not included in kit once home. Great intro experience and now keen to do some more!

My mum and I really enjoyed our session with Bethany, she was so encouraging and helpful and lovely! We really enjoyed it- and we’re surprised with the amount of products included in the session- including a glue gun (which we were surprised was included!) and thing it is great value for money because of this! I really enjoyed this session. I turned up on my own but was made to feel very welcome. The group was really nice, a good mixture of ages and experiences. Really enjoyed the class. Wish it had been longer than 1 hour! It was very relaxed and friendly.The teacher was very informative, friendly and gave lots of ideas for other projects. It was good value for money.Would definately recommend

The chairs were too low for the table and I thought there was going to be some direction. I could have bought the wreath making kit in store and sat and done it at home with no input from the “trainer”.

Teacher (Bethany) was great. One of the stamps in the kit (Happy Christmas) is far too big to fit on the large star cut out, and also it doesn’t really read clearly in the clay. Other than that, great kit and great workshop.

I booked the class for my 13-year-old craft-mad daughter and she absolutely loved it!
Our instructor Bethany was lovely and very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble for her! When the LED light on one of our 2 cloches was a bit shaky and not stuck on properly, she swiftly got us another cloche (and we could keep the faulty one too). The workshop was great fun and we'd definitely recommendd it (we have done loads of these workshops over the years!)

Excellent workshop! Presented with fantastic box of goodies on arrival. Instructor was unobtrusive but eager to help and pass on tips when required. A pleasant start to Christmas.

Emma was really nice and gave us some good ideas. Her instructions were easy to follow. The venue was good but Emma kept being disturbed by customers asking for her help to find things which she did perfectly. This didn't disturb our workshop as we spent all our time painting the base colour. The idea of all the project being in a sealed box was an excellent idea - it felt like it was personal to you rather than generic. Opening the box added to the excitement.

Pleased about the return of these in store workshops for cchildren. A little disappointed it wasn't run the same with a variety of different hobbycraft paints made available for the child to use in store rather than just
having to use the bland little colour pots that are in box. Store Assistant who sat with us was helpful, chatted to little ones easily and provided clean water for brushes and paper towels to wipe messy little hands

I attended the autumn wreath making class. Bethany was a great group facilitator making learning easy and fun. I didn’t know anyone else on the course, but we had a lovely time together. Doing the session in store was lovely, a real creative atmosphere, plus I could go shopping afterwards! All the wreath materials came in a box, it was like opening a lovely gift! It contained everything I needed to make a beautiful wreath which is now hanging in my front door at home. Getting lost in craft for an hour was a real treat and everyone has complimented my beautiful colourful wreath. I really enjoyed this session and would recommend to anyone, even if you have never done anything like this before.

The amount of material provided was more than good value, it was over and above what was needed. The kit was a huge box of goodies with extra provided on the table. Great hour , well spent.

The trainer was very helpful and gave us lots of tips. The course was very good value for money.
I now feel confident to try out projects using infusible ink.
The venue in the middle of the store wasn’t ideal with customers walking past all the time. A quiet corner would have been better.
I look forward to other Cricut courses.

I had purchased my Cricut machine a few months earlier and had felt completely overwhelmed with its capabilities so I’d put it in a cupboard! I then heard about the one to one sessions and thought it would be ideal for my needs. I wasn’t disappointed at all! The lady who taught me was excellent! She was very knowledgeable but started by teaching me the very basics. I’ve come home and just made my first birthday banner! Thank you, I’m very happy xx

Venue was relaxed.
The materials provided were excellent. It was nice to come away with everything we needed to have another go.
Good value for money considered the materials provided.
Confidence grew as the hour went on. We learn how to vary pressure, some individual letters and some joining.

My daughter Eve had loads of fun!
The teacher was really nice and knowledgeable and very patient! At first I thought £15 was a little bit pricey, but we got given loads of extras and have enough string to do more cross stitch patterns in the future. I would highly recommend the workshop to anybody with kids interested in crafts Thank you!

Steph was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about everything I asked - great that the workshop was led by me and tailored to my needs so I could find out everything that I wanted to. Gave me lots of little tips and bits of advice that were really useful too. Also had the opportunity to have an explore with the machine, some of the tools and see it in action. Only negative is that now I will definitely be spending lots of money on a Cricut Maker and the materials to go with it! Thank you for all your help, would highly recommend to anyone.
