Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

This children really enjoyed this activity during the school holidays. They loved the range of paints available and discussing their art with Katie. Lovely workshop just right for their level (had a 2.5yr old and 4yr old). Would be better if it was slightly longer 40/45mins so that we weren't being rushed but a lovely bright space and we would definitely do an event there again.

The instructor turned up slightly late (14.02). He didn't seem to know what he was doing. The bead activity was too fiddly for most of the children and could have been made much simpler. It would make more sense to do to painting activity first so it had time to dry. Overall me and child were disappointed (Cambridge 2/12)

Teacher was good but seemed not very confident, and the workshop said marbling but my partner said what we did was not marbling, we painted the baubles with acrylics and while the decorations and stuff made it worthwhile it was a little pricey and overall a little disappointing

I was disappointed with this workshop. I was expecting a ceramic baubles marbling session and it wasn’t.
We used acrylic paints and stickers which was not what I was expecting. I could have done that at home. It was the marbling I wanted to try.
I enjoyed making my baubles and taking time out for myself.

Ali our teacher was very good and explained what we had to do very clearly. The work table was plenty big enough and it was nice and light.
We had plenty of paint colours to choose from so we mixed some to get even more colours, with the various brush sizes.
Would recommend this as it was good value for money.

Clay Creatures was really good fun and all my 3 (aged 11, 7 and 3) had a great time, following instructions how to make the clay creatures but also just improvising. It inspired them to buy some clay and they’re continuing at home too!

I had a one to one with Ana at the Cambridge store.
She firstly made me feel extremely welcome, and was friendly talking me through each step.
I was there to find out more about cutting vinyl on my cricut joy.
Ana took me through the process demonstrating what and how I could design and make projects.

I will also definitely be buying the mug press heater when I can afford it, after she demonstrated on this.

Great experience as I took my Nephew to make a coronation crown. Ana the leader was lovely and helpful and patient.
The only thing that I would say is they should have upper and lower case letters to stick with as my nephew pointed out certain letters not in his name as only capitals were available which he didn't recognise at 4yrs old and still learning.

Anna was a lovely instructor and we had a great session chatting about all sort of things as well as calligraphy it was lovely to get to know each other and to get her tips and tricks for how to improve my hand lettering, she was also super encouraging which is great where you're just starting. I loved that the class came with its own kit of brush pens and practice paper which really helps me structure my practice. Would definitely recommend and looking for more workshops to join. Friendly, helpful trainer. Great value for money - went home with multiple artwork made myself & items to spare for future art pouring. She helped us to keep our art safe when it needed longer to dry & learnt a variety of beginner pouring techniques - along with insight on more intricate things we can do with tools from home.

I really enjoyed the fillable Christmas baubles class in the Cambridge store. Ali was excellent, very helpful and patient and had lots of ideas.
It could have been even better if another staff member was on the shop floor at the same time, as Ali was often interupted by customers needing help.

Really nice experience. Although there was some issues with supplies, the hobbycraft team solved it providing us with materials to continue with the workshop. The teacher was sweet and kind to us and we learnt how to assemble a beautiful Christmas wreath. Will come again for another workshop!

Thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. The teacher, Anam, had done a degree in fine art and was able to use her own knowledge and experience to very good effect. She gave me an excellent introduction to the art of watercolour painting and made the session both fun and instructive.
I would fully recommend this workshop to anyone who is keen to have a go at watercolour painting.

Had a lovely time at the Clay Disco Ball workshop in Cambridge Hobbycraft. Ana was our teacher and she she was great with all four of my grandchildren aged 3-5 (they are are a handful when together ). She was very engaging and they stayed focused on making the disco ball. Definitely value for money, plus ample parking.

Ana was knowledgeable on the subject of paint pouring and was great fun to do the class with. We were able to try out two techniques and Ana talked us through other techniques. The kit supplied was very generous although my granddaughter bought a mountain of equipment to take home to teach her two younger brothers how to do it

Ana was friendly , and considerate. She was a brilliant teacher. I would recommend and will book again. First Anna showed me how to use design space to cut and apply infusable ink. We then moved into layered vinyl. As I wanted to learn about layering. A productive time and very worth while.

Despite she was not set up and ready for me, due to no fault of hers as the gentlemen {member of Staff} who helped me book it on line while I was in the shop the day I bought the machine did not enter the name of the machine I was coming to be taught on.
She quickly got everything together and we got started all the way through in very good spirits.

The teacher was fantastic, we had meaningful conversations. I was able to get valuable information on whether the machine I had identified as fit for purpose would really satisfy my needs.
We were interrupted by an ordinary customer asking for information on something completely different, which is fine but possibly ,Hobbycraft could organize posters saying that a student/client is undergoing paid tuition in store. Clare, the teacher dealt with this situation in a tip top diplomatic way.

Would have been nice to have gone home with a token little sample / project. For example when she demonstrated cutting out letters on glitter card she used her own initial… but could have been mine or one of my sons so I could have used it on something?

As a complete non painter, this was a very helpful workshop. I learnt about mixing the paint and using the brush to get different techniques. The teacher was knowledgeable and encouraging. There were no other students so I had individual attention.
I was given a very nice pack with paper, paints, brushes and mixing palate. My only reservation is that the 1 hour workshop is very brief and I would have preferred to sit for 2 hours at the painting. But I now have enough ideas and information to continue the project at home.

There was a mix up as we had been told not to bring our own sewing machine, but the shop was expecting us to bring it. However, once that was sorted Ali was an excellent teacher and very kind and patient with my daughter. We went through all the basics, and had a good opportunity to ask questions. There weren't enough people on the shop floor to prevent people interrupting the teacher to ask about locations of items. This could be solved by a sign that says "class in progress" or moving the workshop area. Or in fact the shop having more staff.

Despite advising in advance that I wanted to use Cricut exclusively for fabric, there was no fabric blade for their Cricut Maker 3. This is an extra at £45 and a pink fabric mat also an extra at £8.
Claire demonstrated cutting out a butterfly on card almost successfully. An simple outline letter worked better on adhesive backed felt. This machine might be useful for our stitching group’s appliqué workshops and cutting outlines for a quilt but I am not sure the outlay is worth it without external funding

The workshop leader Claire was lovely. We had a great chat about Cricut and she helped me with a lot of questions I had.
I found it strange that it was in the middle of the shop and I had nowhere to put my coat or bag… I felt like I was “in the way” a bit of shoppers.

The instructor was very knowledgeable about Cricut, but had never used a Joy (which the class was on), so that was a bit strange and a shame as I’d used it more than she has.

It was still worth the £5 for the tips I picked up though.

It went brilliant! Myself and my mum really enjoyed this workshop as all of the materials were provided and are incredibly useful and creative like I have never
thought would use those techniques the teacher advised us. The teacher, Ali, is very creative with her art skills and incredibly helpful especially helping my mum who was a beginner crafter experience whereas myself is a more immediate level experience when it comes to crafting as I do lots of art and crafts at home haha. Never thought the venue would be upstairs and open to public but am quite happy with that. I think my mum has learned lots of new skills in the workshop which she will use in her future making crafts!

Excellent and fun class. I'm very much a beginner/amateur card maker and felt the class was easy to follow and the cards I made were straightforward and looked really pretty when I finished. The box was lovely and full of a nice array of festive card making materials. The teacher was very kind and helpful, it felt like I was crafting with a friend. I really enjoyed the one to one basic sewing machine course, which has filled me with enthusiasm for my machine! My tutor was informative and friendly, making the hour session fun. I had been having difficulties at home and I used my own machine and material, so I didn't ask if a machine or material were available. Difficulties all resolved, so I'm very happy. I've already told my daughter in law about the course and I'm planning to go to some more. Well worth the ten pound :)
