Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

We've loved all the workshops we've been on but felt this one could have been much better. The group was shown one example and were just set off to work without any teaching of skills or sharing of tips. There were only 4 colours (red, blue, yellow and green) but it would have been nice to have white to create lighter shades. My daughter didn't want a dark blue background around her flowers but didn't have the option of making a lighter more sky like blue so didn't bother with one. We were done in about 20 minutes even though she took her time and worked very carefully. It was a disappointing workshop when comparing it to others we have attended.

The only downside maybe is that it is not in an enclosed area and others are shopping around while doing the class. Also my little one is a runner ‍️ therefore chasing them around was not great, maybe they were too young. Anyway lovely class.

Our teacher, Maria, showed us different techniques for painting with acrylic and helped us to create beautiful coasters. All the materials were provided. We were able to leave items there, to pick up a few days later, once the paint has dried. This workshop was a fun way to try a new craft while having the valuable support of a teacher.

I attended the Christmas bauble decorating course with my mother, in Brighton. We both enjoyed it very much. Maria was welcoming and friendly and explained the process and gave advice on the techniques. The baubles appear to be good quality and we had to leave them at the shop to dry to collect the next day. We have not collected them yet, but pleased with the finished product and look forward to putting them on my Christmas tree.
We will definitely look at other workshops run at Hobbycraft.

lovely friendly teacher (Maria) who gave individual help to each person at their own pace. Venue was fine, materials good, maybe more choice of colours would be nice,
very good value for money. I am delighted, i learnt how to cast on, do double stitch, treble stitch, and start a new row, and came home with a lovely square to keep practicing on, it looks very pretty. The cost included 2 balls of yarn, crochet needle, and a bag to keep everything in. A very enjoyable event.

I went to the fillable Christmas wooden people bauble workshop with a friend and we had a lovely time. It was a small group which was good as there was plenty of space to work. The equipment was great and everything was provided. Our workshop leader was very friendly and explained clearly what to do, but sadly I can't recall her name, it began with F (sorry, I'm not good with names) It was great to try out using a glue gun - I may purchase one as a result, and I'm really pleased with what I made. I've still got the rest of the equipment to make more at home so overall good value for money.

But I didn't think the project itself was that great value - it's just a cardboard cutout and stickers/poppoms really, and glad I bought with a discount. We do love these workshops though, but looking forward to more interesting crafts to do.

Bauble marbling in Brighton branch. Teacher Fontaine was absolutely lovely & did her utmost to make it fun & enjoyable. Venue not so great - table cramped in to middle of aisle - other customers want everything & they want it NOW! That’s regardless of her being in middle of a class. So lots of disturbance & distractions. Lots of equipment provided but end result was the baubles were pretty but a bit ‘washed out’ - too watery. Maybe needs to be an oil based substance? Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank you.

The instructor was very good and the hour flew by. We were able to try a couple of different techniques but the class really should have been longer to allow you to finish your four coasters. It should also be clearer that the items would need to stay at the venue to dry. Also a bit more space would be of great benefit as we were in the shop, people were passing right next to us and we were leaning against displays!

Best beginers crochet class I have done and I have done a few and then not kept up the practising.
I thought the class was good value for money especially as the box of materials you leave with is great and obviously the skill of crochet.
I found the teacher was so patient and used her own simple terminology which made total sense to me.
I also really enjoyed the class, it was fun and informative. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who would love to begin in the world of crochet.

Delphi really enjoyed her one to one sewing machine lesson with Maria .
It was a great starter session , Delphi gained lots of confidence.
Maria , was so nice and patient . Nothing was too much trouble .
We thought she was marvellous .
She taught Delphi how to thread the machine , use different settings .
Gave her great tips on making a seam and doing different stitches .
They made a handy drawstring bag .
It was fantastic value .
I would highly recommended

My daughter and I visited the Brighton hobby craft for a canvas painting workshop today, there was a cute little table in a quiet area at the back of the store, M the assistant was so friendly and made my daughter feel at ease, she showed my daughter the different techniques and helped her complete her canvas, we were both so impressed with the service and now my daughter has her very own masterpiece to hang pride of place in her bedroom, we will be looking out for more workshops in the future, Thankyou Hobbycraft

Excellent workshop My daughter had a great time making her clay animals. All equipment and resources were provided and the staff member took time to show the children what to do as well as giving them the time to make their animals. The staff member was attentive to each child, giving her time and help to each of them. Even though fhe session was only 30 minutes it didn't feel rushed.

Maria was our teacher. We chose to have a class just the two of us, which we were glad of. She was very patient, demonstrated and guided us many times. It felt great when it went right, frustrating when it didn't. Lots of practice needed. Our hobbycraft box contained a notebook, A4 paper, metallic pens, gift tags, practice sheets. Good value

Fontaine at the Brighton store was brilliant. Very engaging and gave clear instructions that my daughter found easy to follow. There were plenty of materials available, in a wide variety for the craft itself. Very simple but effective idea. My daughter has proudly hung her wind chime at home. The value of this was excellent as well.

Needed help with a specific project and having not used my Cricut & Design Space for a long time was finding it difficult to design what I had in mind. Had a 1 hour 1-1 workshop with Maria in the Brighton Store. She was very nice & explained everything clearly and was quite happy for me to write each step down as I would have forgotten by the time I came to try on my own. Maria also showed me some other things to try & gave me lots of tips.
During the session her tablet went blank & so she had to go & get another one. For the very short time lost in changing tablets my hour extended to 1.5 hours. She also said if I had any further questions then to give her a call.
The whole workshop was well worth £20.

Our tutor, Lucy, was so patient and encouraging. Easy to understand instructions
and she was extremely engaging. The kit provided was amazing and very generous and we were thrilled to be able to take it away with us.
We took aprons with us, which were rather useful! We would recommend that either aprons were provided or advice given to bring one with you as it can get messy, plus to collect at least 3 days later for them to fully dry. A thoroughly enjoyable course and we now have a basic knowledge of the process and the materials needed to progress further.

instructor - Was a lovely person who engaged with me immediately. they sought out what i needed to know and provided me with the required info and a i was able to understand my issues with the newly aquired machine. admitedly i just needed very basic instruction but this was very well done by the instructor and i was able to go home and actually sew a perfect straight line in the right stich with the correct tension, the rest is up to me. i would recommed for a newbie!

I did initially think £22 was a bit pricey for a knitting workshop, but I was pleasantly surprised. My daughter really enjoyed the workshop. I had the wonderful Maria teaching me how to crochet. I was all finger and thumbs to begin with but by the end of my workshopI got it this was all down to Maria being so patient and really clear with her teaching. I have never crocheted before but I left knowing several different stitches and a box full of goodies. Maria advised me to practice as much as I can, I listened to her and now I have crocheted several scarfs and I've made several flowers from YouTube videos and I'm currently teaching myself to do granny squares. All thanks to Maria and her teaching skills.

Is always nice to do kids craft in store where I don’t have to clean up afterwards, but this workshop was a little lacklustre. I’m not sure the facilitator was used to children as she spoke to them as if they were adults rather than 5 year olds, talking about the chemical properties of wax and the pigment in the paint. As a result my daughter wasn’t particularly engaged at first, though we made our own fun in the end…

The workshop was only 4 people which was ideal for getting lots of help.

My daughter loved it! Although she doesn’t like messy play, she enjoyed kneading the clay. I sometimes helped her and we both put loads of jewels on the ball which was fun! It was our second time to come to workshop there but always made something else when we still had time. It was definitely worth the money. My daughter LOVES workshops at Hobbycraft!

My sisters & I get together every year for my late mother's birthday. This year I was hostess so I made arrangements to visit Hobbycraft for a class. I am the crafty one in my family but the others are not and therefore found the class fun and enjoyed themselves. The class was really for beginners, so experienced crafters should avoid, but newbies would like to go home with their own hand made Christmas decoration.

The wreath was very simply made but had potential for personalising.

The teacher was very patient with my sisters as I tried not to interfere. After all this was Her class not mine.

The workshop took place at the back of the shop, however I did feel we were a little cramped for space on quite a small table.
We were provided with a selection of materials in a well organised box, a wreath, berries, small pine cones, hessian ribbon and our own hot glue gun.
The teacher was very helpful and showed us how to make the bows and attach everything securely. I think the workshop was good value for money as the finished wreath looked very nice and will last a long time. We were able to take home anything we had not used so could add any finishing touches if necessary.

Because my daughter was the only one in the workshop, she made a few trees and some more decorations! I’d thought when she finished making the trees, that would have been the end of the workshop but the staff (Maria) just carried on until the time came. It was very good value for money. The teacher, Alex, was fantastic! He was charming, patient and friendly. He didn't judge when I kept making mistakes and gave me a lot of encouragement to carry on. He was great and I learnt a lot from him in a short space of time. He used simple instructions and slow, easy to follow demonstrations. I would have liked a simple pattern to follow in the box provided- and to be shown how to follow pattern instructions. Maybe that's for another workshop! Then price is reasonable- but would like more sessions to explain other stitches.
I really enjoyed it and have now crocheted a square (ish!).

Really lovely teacher, really nice activity with really good resources. My only criticism would be it was overpriced. The workshop was about half an hour, the air dry clay was one pound a packet and I took two of my children. So I paid ten pounds in total.

Great quality materials, and the facilitator was perfectly lovely, but she was just doing the activity alongside me. I had hoped for some guidance or tuition, not just company while I sat there. I've done online Hobbycraft workshops, which have been great, but the instore ones offer no actual guidance - they just sit there while you have a go. I won't do any more instore ones.

The equipment for the class was good, I could use the machine that I bought but also I could sew with another and that was good because it is good to know the different machines in case I want to change mine or just for the knowledge of it. My daughter and I really enjoyed the beginners crochet workshop today. Lots of material everything we needed to carry on at home and a canvas bag to carry it home in. Disappointing experience as had expected demonstrator to give an introduction regarding uses of machine, what it does, what it needs to complete projects etc .
I was curious about the process but demonstrator assumed I had a machine and carried out 2 demonstrations, one of which had a number of mistakes happen.
The equipment needed wasn’t ready to use, but had to be gathered while we waited and the end product of one was not perfect. Standing in the middle of the shop was uncomfortable and distracting. Apologies for negative comments as I knew the demonstrator was enthusiastic about the product, but it didn’t make me want to buy it.

We had a great time and Fontaine our supervisor was lovely and made it really fun. She was great and really friendly
But, we’re really confused why we were charged £35 each for this class when we could have bought the set for £10 each and a glue gun for £2.50 and done this ourselves at home. Won’t be recommending and feel like we were ripped off.

We were provided with a lovley wreath making kit and Glue gun, with glue stick refills. There were only two of us on this occasion and the Maria, who showed us what to do. Maria was helpful. It wasn't quite what I expected, as it was more of a creative session than a course. But still really enjoyed it. Bought another kit to do at home too. Was worth the money, nice people and a nice environment.

Trainer Fontaine was lovely, really helpful & full of advice & good ideas. Venue was just a table at the back of the shop. Could have done with some privacy away from other shoppers, staff bustling past, & children getting upset over various things - all not conducive to concentration. Pack contained lovely stuff - all we needed, except some tweezers would have been useful. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the class - 1 hour was a little bit tight, but it kept us busy. Would defo do more courses. Thank you.

I loved how Becky W was practical and knowledgable without overwhelming me with sewing jargon. it was the right balance of showing but also hands on experience - and I got a prototype of my bean bag project which is super helpful. thank you!

Becky's knowledge was really valuable, and what a fun and friendly person to learn from! The value for money was entirely in the company. If have found that if there is ever bad company, then the venue, etc - really gets ruined. I would be happy to settle for less materially and have wonderful company, because you learn so much more and it's a pleasant experience. Please keep your staff. She was great.

As a total beginner this course is fantastic and great value for money ! Maria in the Brighton store is so helpful and patient she help me set up my machine and I completed my first project - for only £10 I highly recommend

Great Experience
The lady that was helping me today on the cricut machines was very helpful, polite and lovely to talk to she helped me make a decision on what machine was best for me to upgrade too, I did not feel rushed in anyway and we had fun using the machines too, I highly recommend this service from Brighton lewes road hobby craft

Fabulous class! We had so much fun. Gorgeous gift box with all our craft materials in. Best of all, our teacher (Maria) was wonderful and so patient and kind. My daughter and I both had a great time!
