• 5/5 from Paula McKenzie, attended Apr 2026: Thoroughly enjoyed this Fun intro to sewing. The class was very relaxed and no pressure to keep up, everyone went at their own pace. Class began with an overview of the sewing machine plus how to thread it. We were given patterns on material to follow with the teacher explaining each step as we went along. We were also able to make a couple of items with step by step instructions given. Fully recommend this class to the point I am now looking to book the alterations class

• 2/5 from Sophie White, attended Jan 2026: Unfortunately our tutor was very abrupt and rude to the class for the whole duration, snapping when people were asking questions and creating quite a hostile environment throughout. I was so surprised because other reviews had described their tutor as welcoming and patient but that simply wasn't our experience. It really spoiled the experience, perhaps it was just a bad day for her but everyone who attended had paid good money to be there and was excited to learn. It felt demoralising and the way the class was treated was really quite unprofessional. I could see others were uncomfortable in the class & when I spoke with another lady outside as we were leaving we both said the same thing, that we would have liked to come back for future classes if not for how our tutor behaved, which is a shame. The class content itself was a little different than I had expected - I wish there had been more time & a warmer environment for asking questions and understanding sewing basics in more detail, but it felt more like a rush to complete projects as quickly as possible. The tutor told us the class as 'meant to be stressful', which it did feel throughout, and this was not the impression I got from the online description when I booked it. That being said, overall the class was challenging, engaging and fun. The items that we made in the class were lovely with great quality materials & the ideas were clearly carefully chosen so that we could all come away proud of what we'd made. I learned new skills and felt like the class was good value for money. Again it's such a shame as I would have liked to rate this class more highly & would have liked to come back for future classes, but sadly won't be returning

There were a couple of negative points which stopped me from giving 5 stars, firstly the address was mis-leading. Access was not from Norfolk Street and reference to "our car park" was not advised. Despite getting there 15 mins early I got to the classroom a couple of minutes late so I was not told that coffee was available, nor did I receive the sewing kit promised for my original booking bring delayed

Charmaine is a brilliant mentor and has created a fun and welcoming environment within the studio. I've also booked onto the 5 week beginners course and can't wait to learn more!
