Full-Day Pottery Throwing Experience for Two People

Come and discover the joy of throwing on the potter’s wheel!A completely different experience from hand-building, throwing is slippery, a bit tricky, and a lot of fun.In this relaxed full-day (6-hour) workshop, we’ll demonstrate the key steps before giving you the chance to sit at the wheel and make some pots of your own. Each person will have their own wheel for the full session.You will have time to explore carving and other decorative techniques, as well as the chance to paint your pots with underglazes. Alternatively, you can spend part of the day throwing and part of the day hand-building; the choice is yours!You’ll learn how to centre the clay, open it out, pull up the walls, and shape it into a pot. We’ll then dry off your pieces so you can trim and refine them—giving you a taste of the full throwing process and the chance to make each pot truly your own.Throwing is a skill that takes time to master, so think beautiful little bowls rather than giant vases on your first go—perfect for dips, olives, or simply admiring on a shelf.After the session, your pieces will be fired and glazed in a colour of your choice (or you can paint them in underglaze paints). You can collect them later, or we can post them if you’re not local.This workshop is ideal for couples, friends, or anyone looking for a creative and relaxed experience for two. We will provide refreshments and a nice lunch.Workshops usually run from 10am–4pm, but let me know if you want another time and I will see what I can do! We also do half-day sessions if you're looking for a shorter experience.

• Fired and glazed stoneware pots they have made from scratch! (We can post them if you aren't local, or they can be collected a few weeks later from our studio.)
