What you'll do
In this creative drawing class, you will learn the fundamentals of figure drawing and create stunning artwork to take home. This workshop is perfect for beginners who have always wanted to try their hand at drawing the human form. Don't worry if you've never picked up a pencil before – this class is designed to alleviate any fears and provide a supportive environment for you to learn.
During the workshop, you will be introduced to various drawing techniques and principles, allowing you to develop your skills and improve your confidence. Your experienced instructor, Gerald, will guide you through each step, helping you to understand the human figure and how to accurately capture its proportions and details.
With a focus on using different materials, such as charcoal and graphite, you will explore various mark-making techniques to bring your drawings to life.
The last two hours of the class (2pm to 4pm) will be a dedicated life drawing session with a model, to allow you to put your skills into action.

Your teacher
Gerald Porter is an experienced artist having trained in South Wales and London at Hornsey College of Art. He has completed education qualifications at the University of Leicester and Exeter Institute of Education.
As an artist, he has held successful exhibitions at the Strand Gallery and Meniere Gallery London as well as being a frequent exhibitor locally in Northampton, Kettering, and Leicester.
He is a Fellow of the FPAA, awarded in 2019, and is a Demonstrator for Art Profile for which he gives talks and demonstrates his talent for watercolours.
