Easter Modelling Glass Taster Workshop - Boyton

Unleash your creativity in this hands-on glass modeling workshop!

2 hours Class size 3 to 5 guests       £45 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this creative workshop, you'll learn how to shape and design your own glass ornaments using a unique modelling technique. Throughout the session, you'll develop skills with glass powders while crafting up to three personalised hanging or magnet ornaments to take home.
This hands-on activity welcomes participants of all skill levels, requiring no previous glassworking experience. The process uses glass powders mixed with a binder – similar to modelling clay but with the beautiful finished quality of glass – making it accessible and safe for everyone.
During the workshop, you'll begin with provided blank shapes that you'll transform with your own designs, whether inspired by Easter themes, gardens, landscapes, seascapes, or abstract patterns. The instructor will guide you through the process, offering tips and support to help bring your ideas to life. One fascinating aspect of this technique is that your pieces will shrink by up to 30% when fired, creating gorgeously detailed miniature ornaments.
By the end of this engaging workshop, you'll have created your collection of unique glass ornaments – beautiful decorative pieces that showcase your creativity and imagination.
Notes:
  • Handcrafted embellishments are available at an additional cost.
  • After the workshop, your glass piece will be kiln-fired, wrapped, and ready to collect from the venue approximately 2 weeks later or it can be posted 2nd class at an additional £3.00.
  • I always fire your glass with the utmost care; however, the kiln gods can be unpredictable and a little cruel at times. 99.9% of firings are successful, but please be aware of the nature of this process.
  • By purchasing your workshop place, you are agreeing to the T&Cs that payments are non-refundable but are transferable.
  • Please give at least 7 days notice if you need to transfer to a different date/workshop.
  • If I cancel the workshop, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

Originally from South Africa, I moved to the UK in 2002 and now live in the picturesque Wylye Valley, a place that constantly inspires my creativity with its stunning landscapes and natural beauty. I have a deep passion for the arts and textiles, specializing in home décor, personalized gifts, and jewellery. My work draws inspiration from both my South African roots and my life in the UK, with a strong influence from nature, the sea, and animals—textures playing a key role in my designs.
For the past few years, I’ve been working in all aspects of fused glass, exploring its versatility and creative potential. During this time, I set up my glass business, Glasschick, a name inspired by my love of both glass and our chickens.Glasschick was created out of her love for both chickens and glass, when Lilly, the Silkie and part of the family, materialised onto the logo in an act of serendipity. I particularly enjoy working with modelling glass, a unique and exciting way to shape glass and precious metal silver clay, which can be used together or on their own, allowing for intricate and expressive designs.
My glass art is featured in various exhibitions across the UK, and I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills with others. I will be teaching at various locations across the UK, offering workshops for both beginners and experienced artists who want to explore new techniques and creative possibilities in glass art.
I'm one of the founders of UK Glass Art Collective and also a member of the Contemporary Glass Society, Plain Arts Salisbury, and Salisbury Art Scene.
