3 hours

Class size 1 to 2 (public classes), 3 to 5

  £65 - £140 (£65 for Child - Under 18yrs; £79 for Adult; £140 for Couples Throwing Class)

Come and experience a warm welcome in my studio where you'll be greeted with a cup of tea or coffee, regularly provided throughout the session. At which point I will introduce myself as well as give you a brief overview of my studio and the tools you'll be using during the session.
I will then demonstrate how to use the wheel and show you the basic techniques you'll need to create your very own bowl. After the demonstration, it's your turn! With Bex's guidance, you'll take turns using the wheel to create your own unique bowl. For those more confident and adventurous, you can go on to create your very own mug to go with it.
When you're finished, I will glaze and fire your bowl alongside your other wonderful creations, and your finished piece will be ready for collection in 6 - 8 weeks. If you prefer, you can have it posted to you for a small additional fee payable on the day.
This workshop offers a relaxed and supportive environment to explore pottery!
Children between the ages of 12-18yrs old are also welcome to the studio to take part in their very own session and have found enjoyment from the wonders of clay! However please be aware that if you are booking a Throwing Workshop on behalf of a child under the age of 18 yrs, an adult is required to accompany the child for the duration of the session.

So much fun and such a unique day out, really great way to learn and enjoy a new skill in a calm and friendly atmosphere— this gifted experience was for my birthday! Becks explained and demonstrated everything very clearly and was very patient and helpful as we got to grips with the clay. Although I don’t think I’ll be appearing on the pottery throwdown just yet, I was amazed that by the end of the session we had made half a dozen pieces of genuinely useful pottery.

I was very lucky as I was the only student, and I had one-to-one tuition from Bex. She was great; patient and encouraging. Centreing the clay was more involved than I had expected, and if I’d not got it quite right her strong hands came down and “calmed” the clay down for me. I loved it.

I am a trained ceramicist having previously studied Glass, Ceramics, Jewellery and Metalwork at the University for the Creative Arts. After graduating I began working in a pottery studio in Lewes where I developed my expertise and love for throwing. Having previously explored the depths of hand building at university.
My work is inspired by geological rocks and the natural processes that shape them. This influence is evident in the detailed textures, shapes and glazes I apply to my ceramics.
I am known for my friendly and outgoing nature. I love to teach as it allows me to enjoy meeting new people and helping them create their own pieces. I takes pride in seeing others happy with their work and the new as well as varied ideas students have brought.
In my studio, I offers guidance and support, making the creative process accessible to everyone, whether you're new to ceramics or want to improve your skills. Which has given me joy to make a difference in peoples lives for a short period, that my students didn't think previously possible using a creative means they haven't tried before.
