Mock Up Your Design
Before you start painting, you’ll have time to mock up your design on paper first — a quick, easy way to plan your colours, patterns and any cheeky details and pick out what materials you will need. It helps you feel confident before you commit to the ceramic, and you can use our inspiration ideas for a little extra creative spark.
Paint on Your Base Colours
Start by painting your base colours first (start with the lightest so your paint brush does't blend the colours) — this is where you block out the main shades and set the tone for your design. Once that first layer is down, it’s much easier to build up details, add patterns, and make your masterpiece really pop.
Paint on Your Detail Colours
Once your base layer is in place, it’s time for your detail colours — the outlines, patterns, shading and cheeky little extras that make your design stand out. Build them up slowly with a smaller brush, add highlights and contrasts, and watch your masterpiece come to life.
Add on Your Embellishments
Finish things off with your embellishments — the sparkles, accents and final flourishes that take your piece from “painted” to properly show-stopping. Add them carefully, step back to check the balance, and don’t be afraid to go bold if that’s your vibe.
