What you'll do
Experience the art of traditional type settings with our collection of wooden and metal types in this typography class. Learn how to print word art and come away with your very own personal prints.
Guided by a friendly teacher, you will learn to use a composing stick and get to grips with type-setting techniques on a small scale. You can then use these skills to experiment with larger-scale wooden letters to create a statement piece.
Combine metal and wood types, work in traditional tones or play with colour and foils. This is a creative printing class with endless options and possibilities. All the materials and support you need will be provided as well as plenty of tea and coffee.
Your finished pieces can be messages, DIY greetings cards or a decorative print you can take home and hang up at home. You can even design your own style letters to take home with you.
Please note: If you are a group of 2-4, your class will be held in the lovely Severn Studio. If in a group of 5-20, you'll be in a larger studio close by.

I first learnt to crochet as a child and spent hours and hours making, sewing, knitting and learning every new technique possible in art, craft and design. After a degree in graphics and 16 years of experience teaching Textiles, Graphics, Art & Design and Design & Technology, I strongly believe in developing my own practice to be the best tutor I can be. I am continually inspired by my students of all ages, so it's definitely a two-way street!
