Crochet Taster Workshop for Beginners

Learn the fundamental crochet stitches and techniques, plus take home your own crochet hook.

2 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests       £35

This is a beginner friendly class where you discover the joy of creating with yarn.
In this class our experienced teacher will guide you through 3 essential stitches in crochet. These stitches are a basis for most crochet techniques, so by the end of the class you will have a basic knowledge to start making your own things or learn more complicated techniques.
The nature of this class is very relaxed and playful as you're not following a pattern, so you can go at your own pace and be as free as you want.
The teacher will also give you tips on changing colors, sewing pieces together, finishing the piece and answer all your questions about crochet.
We also provide all participants with a crochet hook and yarn, so you can go home and continue practicing straight away.

  • 5/5 from Zarya Oh, attended May 2026: I thought this was a really well run class and a great introduction to the basics of crochet. It was structured and followed a natural progression, and the small class size allowed for a really collaborative learning process and lots of 1-1 time with corection of technique. Thanks so much!

  • 5/5 from Haa Wee Chew, attended May 2026: Excellent teaching and great teacher. She made it all so simple and was very patience when we got stuck. Will definitely sign up for further classes.

  • 5/5 from Maimuna Bushale, attended Mar 2026: I really enjoyed this class. The instructor was helpful and explained how to do the stitches in a simple way. First she demonstrated a stitch to the group and then made her way around individual to help each person, which was great.
  • 5/5 from Josephine Kember, attended Mar 2026: I've tried and failed to learn crochet before but this was made so easy and explained so well, I feel like I finally got the hang of it! The time went so fast I couldn't believe it. Highly recommended!
  • 5/5 from Diane Flynn, attended Mar 2026: Valeria was a fantastic teacher, showing us how to chain, double, and treble stitch. She gave 1-1 instruction throughout the session, and gave us plenty of time to practice and ask questions. For the more advanced crocheters, she also showed how to change colors. I was a novice at crochet and feel like I could keep working on my skills at home now. I'm looking forward to taking another class with Valeria to learn more advanced tecniques, too!! On a more practical note - the instructions for getting to the location were great, it was a comfortable, warm, and well-lit space, and there are easily accessible public toilets (clean!) less than 5 minutes away. Re: gift cards, this was paid for in part with a gift card. When the card arrived in the mail, I almost threw it away because it looked like junk mail. It didn't say it was a gift card, didn't state what amount/what class, didn't say who it was from. "Voucher for a class" with a QR code - not at all personalized. ClassBento - please review your gift cards, they are not up to par with the quality of the classes/teachers.

  • 5/5 from Maggie Hicklin, attended Mar 2025: This class exceeded my expectations. There were 5 of us in the class & a complete mixed bag of ages and abilities. The teacher was lovely and did a brilliant job of explaining the basics and getting us all started then spent time going to each of us in turn to make sure that we grasped the skills that we needed and also worked towards our individual aims. (we all had in mind something that we wanted to achieve in the future) I left with the confidence that I could complete a craft kit of a handbag that I wanted to make. One added extra was how lovely the other participants were, how much everyone helped and encouraged each other and it was a lovely vibe. All in all, a really enjoyable couple of hours and I gained some skills. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this class.
  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Jan 2025: My partner and I enjoyed the class - we learnt the three basic crochet stitches and have even been practicing in our own time!
