Discover the Japanese-inspired art of Kinusaiga and create your own colourful framed textile artwork using a beautiful no-sew fabric-tucking technique.
I first became fascinated by this style of textile art after seeing large-scale pieces during a trip to Japan, and I wanted to create a modern, accessible version that people could enjoy making themselves.
During this relaxed small-group workshop, you’ll work from a simple design template and learn how to cut, layer, and tuck patterned fabrics into a foam base to build your own unique piece of art.
You’ll choose from a selection of colourful cotton and patterned fabrics, so every finished piece will be completely different.
No sewing skills or previous experience are needed, and I’ll guide you through the whole process step by step.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own finished framed Kinusaiga-inspired artwork, ready to display at home.
All materials are included, such as the wooden frame, foam base, adhesive, fabrics, and use of all tools and equipment.
The workshop takes place in my garden studio in Stewkley, Buckinghamshire, in a relaxed small-group setting, with tea, coffee, and biscuits provided.
Perfect for beginners, textile lovers, or anyone who simply wants to spend a few hours doing something creative and a little different.
What you'll get
A completed framed Kinusaiga-inspired fabric artwork to take home, plus all materials and use of the tools needed during the workshop.
Knowledge required

Hi, I’m Gemini — an Art & Design teacher and the founder of Calm Bazaar, based in the village of Stewkley. Creativity has always been a huge part of my life, and after years of teaching in schools, I began creating small, calm workshops where people can slow down, make something beautiful, and enjoy time for themselves.
My workshops are inspired by travel, culture and traditional crafts — especially my Vietnamese lantern decorating sessions, where you’ll work with authentic bamboo frames and fabrics to create something truly unique. I love sharing skills in a way that feels relaxed, welcoming and achievable for beginners, so no experience is ever needed.
Teaching is at the heart of what I do. With many years of classroom experience, I guide you step by step in a supportive environment, helping you build confidence while enjoying the process of making. My sessions are intentionally small and personal, creating a cosy, friendly atmosphere where creativity feels accessible rather than overwhelming.
If you’re looking for a mindful, creative experience — whether coming alone or with friends — you’ll leave with something handmade, a sense of calm, and the joy of trying something new.
