Create Your Own Handmade Notebooks Workshop

Discover the craft of making your own notebooks.

4 hours Class size 4 to 8 guests       £65 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this half-day class, you learn how to make a simple thread-sewn notebook and also learn the art of Japanese stab binding. You end our session with an A6 notebook and an A5 stab-bound booklet to take home: something for you to enjoy using yourself or a perfect gift!
All tools and materials are provided.
Discover more about what you will learn:
  • In a relaxed, informal group of no more than six people, we start by learning some of the basics of bookmaking. You also have an introduction to the tools we will be using.
  • Matt will then guide you through the process of creating both of our notebooks. We will take this slowly, step by step. You will be impressed at what you produce.
  • Finally, you learn a little more about where you can take your bookmaking next, and we will celebrate what we have created!
Your tutor for the session is Matt Parker.
Matt is an experienced photographer who has been creating handmade books for many years.
Matt is a professional trainer and has studied brain-friendly learning. He is on hand throughout the session to make sure that you receive tips, personal feedback, and inspiration.
All materials are provided. However, you may want to bring your cover materials - I'll explain more on your joining instructions.

Your teacher

I am an experienced photographer and digital artist from Wiltshire. I have been creating smartphone images for many years. I have published four books of my work and my prints and cards are widely available.
I am also a professional trainer and have studied brain friendly learning. I deliberately work with small group sessions to make sure that you receive tips, personal feedback and inspiration.
I am experienced in all types of photography so I focus on making sure that you develop the style that is right for you. I love teaching clients how to develop new ways of seeing.
Most of my images are made as close to home as possible. This is both to minimise my impact on the environment and also to show what can be found and celebrated locally.
I love to wander in wild and lonely places. I also like local walks, cats, fountain pens, craft beer and chocolate.
