I grew up in Hungary where home cooked food is an everyday “essential” and non-negotiable. It is an important part of family life -- connecting and socialising with your loved ones. I moved to Sheffield in 2006 after falling in love with an Englishman (who is now my husband). I have tried to keep the traditions alive, cooking and introducing Hungarian dishes which I love to my new friends.
When I had my eldest daughter, she was a very fussy eater from a young age. I had challenges getting her to eat and enjoy food. I have tried everything and she would only have a limited variety of dishes. This was worrying so I started reading about children’s nutrition and tried to educate myself as much as possible to reduce the dinner time struggle. One day I bought a pasta machine with her and started making pasta, which she loved. To get some more nutrients into her diet, I thought perhaps go a step further and not just hide veggies in the sauce but in the actual pasta. This is how I started making colourful pasta with the girls. Annabel kept inviting her friends over and I caught myself teaching pasta every other weekend. The penny dropped; this could be a nice little side business.
I am now also training to be a nutrition coach. This has changed the direction from just fun activities to educating and helping people get healthier.
