45 mins - 2 hours

Class size 1 to 6 (public classes), 6 to 30

£15 - £18 (Earlybird price of £15 applies if you book into a public session 7+ days ahead)

Coffee Break Silk Painting is a gentle, beginner-friendly wellbeing art session, designed to help you pause, relax, and reconnect — even within a busy day.
This short session is part of our wellbeing programme and offers an easy, low-pressure introduction to silk painting. No drawing experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
The workshop takes place in two welcoming spaces in Huntly, each offering a slightly different atmosphere:
* Deans Bistro provides a warm, social café setting with coffee, gentle conversation, and a relaxed creative energy.
*Huntly Silk Painting Studio, just off Huntly Square, offers a quiet upstairs space ideal for mindful making and focused calm.
The workshop includes a 45-minute guided demonstration.
Most participants take around one hour in total to complete their silk painting, working at a comfortable, unhurried pace.
By the end of the session, you’ll take home a finished A5 silk artwork, along with a calm, restorative creative experience that many participants find grounding and uplifting.
In a fast-paced world, this is a small but meaningful moment of self-care — a chance to pause, create, and simply be.

  • 5/5 from Stacey Gibb, attended Sep 2026: What a great class! Miu Shu was a great teacher. We had a lovely, relaxed time, learning and painting. This was followed by a delicious lunch at The Bank which was nice. We then headed back to frame our finished pictures. You also get a chance to buy kits to take home, which we did and cant wait to create some more lovely silk pictures. You do not need to be artistic to go to this class, Miu Shu will show you everything you need to know. A great find in Huntly. I will definitely be back.

It was excellent fun and inspiring - I want to do more and learn more.
  • 5/5 from Kate, attended Aug 2026: Absolutely loved this class! It was so good to sit and chat while creating a piece of art good enough (in my own opinion anyway) to put up on a wall! So relaxing and fun! Good to do with friends, would repeat!
  • 5/5 from Aileen, attended Aug 2026: Super class. Very relaxed atmosphere. This class for complete beginners taught the basic skills of silk painting, how to use paintbrush, lighten or darken pure colours and mix colours using a colour chart. We chose a prepared template to paint a picture which was framed to use as a card or to display. Mandy (the teacher) was welcoming and skilled and put everyone at ease. I highly recommend this class. I loved my finished card.
  • 5/5 from Jayne Hughes, attended Aug 2026: A beautiful space to be creative. Mandy is interesting and very entertaining making even the most non creative person (me) feel like a real artist A perfect, humorous, happy host. A very affordable workshop Thank you Mandy
  • 5/5 from Connor Mutch, attended Aug 2026: The class was brilliant - and although it was like a private workshop - we could still see the benefits and the routine if it was a full class. We really liked the prepared tester card to trying techniques before moving onto our actual art piece. We also liked the nod to the marketing of buying a pack for your next two painting. Very well organised and we had a great time.
  • 5/5 from Connie Prudden, attended Aug 2026: Fantastic atmosphere, both very relaxing and instructive. Will definitely be returning for more classes and coffees!
  • 5/5 from Dorothy M Anderson, attended Aug 2026: I went along with a friend and I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of class. I expected it to last 45 minutes, however that was just the learning part. After that I got a chance to use the skills taught to paint a silk card. There were no time constraints - no pressure to finish. May return in the future to do a silk scarf.

  • 5/5 from Lynnette Hilditch, attended Aug 2026: Attended this class with two friends. We warmed to her right away and made a great card.
  • 5/5 from Brenda Winchester, attended Aug 2026: The silk painting beginners workshop was a very enjoyable experience. Lasted longer than expected as you get time to finish your piece at your own pace which was great! Miu Shu was very knowledgeable and friendly which made it a relaxed experience. The coffee/refreshments option also is a great idea if you’re attending with a friend. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something different to try.

  • 5/5 from Jolita, attended Jul 2026: We had the most wonderful experience celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary at Huntly Silk Painting Studio with our two daughters. It couldn’t have been a more special way to spend the day together as a family. Mandy is an incredibly kind, patient and talented artist who made us all feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. She created such a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere that even our girls felt confident to be creative and enjoy every minute. The workshop was beautifully organised, easy to follow, and so much fun. We left not only with our own unique silk paintings but also with precious family memories that we’ll treasure for years to come. It’s also such a lovely coincidence that we were celebrating our 12th anniversary while Mandy was celebrating one year of running her wonderful studio. Congratulations on your first anniversary!
