Clay Club: Two-Week Pottery Course — Make a Glowing Tea Light Hou

The hard part of pottery was never the pottery — it's having nowhere to fire it. That's what The Atelier is for.

Clay Club is my regular studio club in North Anston, and this two-week course is how everyone comes in.
The problem was never that you couldn't make something. It's that clay needs a kiln, glazes need shelves and patience, and a wheel needs somewhere it's allowed to make a mess. That's what The Atelier is for — my craft cabin, with the kilns, a potter's wheel, shelves of glazes, and a big table with room for you at it.
Over two weekly sessions you'll make a glowing tea light house — a little clay cottage that lights up from within. It's a lovely thing to take home, but it's what you make while you find your way around clay, not the reason to come.
  • Week 1 — build your house by hand. I'll show you hand-building from scratch; nobody here has done it before.
  • Week 2 — it comes back from its first firing transformed. Glaze it, decorate it, make it yours, and back it goes for its final firing.
  • The week after — glaze firing can't be hurried. I'll message you the moment your house is out of the kiln, and you can come and collect it.
Two sessions of around three hours each, one week apart. Choose mornings 10am-1pm or evenings 6pm-9pm when you book.
You'll also get a go at the potter's wheel and see what else clay can do.
All clay, tools, glazes, aprons and both firings are included. Just bring yourself. No experience needed and all abilities are welcome — small groups, a big table, and nobody minding if you're rubbish at first. Everyone is.
Loved it and want to keep coming? The two-week course is the way in — after that you can hire the studio on Wednesdays and Thursdays from £35 a week, with the kilns, the wheel and materials included.
A note on collection: your finished house is normally ready the week after your second session. The one exception is the course starting Thursday 24 September — those pieces will be ready to collect on Tuesday 6 October.
What you'll get
A finished, glowing tea light house to take home, a go at the potter's wheel, and everything you need along the way — clay, tools, glazes, aprons, and both kiln firings.
Knowledge required
None at all — perfect for complete beginners and all abilities.
What to bring
Just be yourself! Wear something you don't mind getting a little clay on — aprons are provided.

FAQ

Do I need to come to both sessions?
Yes — it's a two-week course. You'll shape your house in week one, then paint and glaze it in week two, so both sessions are part of making the same piece.

Hello, I'm Jacqui — the maker behind FaeCraft Workshops.
I've been creating as FaeCraft since 2017, and now I'm opening the doors to a warm, enchanting little atelier here in North Anston, Sheffield — a place where families and grown-ups can slow down, get creative, and make something special to take home and treasure.
From clay and pottery to fairy gardens, pebble painting, pot painting, and more, every workshop is relaxed, welcoming, and full of imagination — no experience needed, just a willingness to play. My favorite part is watching someone light up at what they've made with their own hands, especially the little ones creating alongside the grown-ups who love them. That's the heart of it for me: the smiles, the pride, and the memories made together around the table.
What makes FaeCraft a little different is the sprinkle of fairy-tale magic in everything we do — and a genuine, unhurried welcome for everyone.
Come and make something magical with us.
— Jacqui
