Ceramics for Beginners: Make a Mug and Spoon by Hand

This hands-on workshop will guide you through making your own ceramic mug and matching spoon using hand-building techniques. You’ll learn how to shape a mug from slabs of clay, form and attach a handle, and create a complementary spoon.The session will cover key skills such as rolling and shaping slabs, joining clay securely, and refining form to create a functional and well-balanced piece. You’ll also explore simple surface decoration techniques to personalise your work, whether through texture, carving, or subtle detailing.By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created a unique, handmade set ready to be dried, glazed, and kiln-fired after the session. Your finished pieces will be both practical and personal—perfect for everyday use or as a gift. All materials and equipment are included. One piece of work will be kiln-fired with a transparent glaze. Firings can take up to 6 weeks. We will contact you when your work is ready for collection. Read more details
