Ceramic Wall Mask with Sgraffito Decoration Workshop

In this workshop, you will learn how to pinch, coil, and sculpt a small wall mask, creating your own unique character and adding pattern and colour to the surface using slips and sgraffito. This decorative technique allows for the creation of patterns with bold colour.At the start of the day, Pascale will show you the fundamental techniques required to pinch and coil the basic mask shape and add hanging fixtures on the back. You will then sculpt and adapt the form to create a face, whether human, animal, hybrid, or abstract. You will then be taught to use coloured slips and sgraffito tools to decorate your piece.You will leave this workshop with confidence and fundamental skills in hand-building, knowledge of sgraffito decoration techniques, and using coloured slips. Your mask will be fired onsite in our electric kilns; this can take up to 6 weeks. All materials and equipment are included. One piece of work will be kiln-fired with a transparent glaze or left unglazed. Firings can take up to 6 weeks. We will contact you when your work is ready for collection. Read more details
