What you'll do

Explore the printing potential of leaves at this relaxing and inspiring workshop at my home in south Liverpool.

With direction from friendly textile artist Maggie, you'll draw on the principles and practice of botanical contact eco printing to discover the printing potential of different leaves and ways to enhance their definition and colour.

This beginner-friendly class is one of the best things to do in Liverpool if you're in a creative mood. Wind down in a fun and relaxed environment as you learn about the differences between leaves and their ability to make prints.

Having printed some leaf samples on cotton, you will print at least one piece of peace silk large enough for a scarf and at least one stack of papers. You'll be astounded by your results! [Alternatives to silk can be offered if requested]

There will be plenty of time for discussion with your guide and to soak up the garden, its plants and surrounding trees before you head home with a clear mind and your beautiful artwork.

What to bring

An apron or overshirt as the printing can get messy.
Comfortable, supportive shoes as you will be standing on a hard floor for most of the class.

Hi there! I'm Maggie, a textile artist passionate about sustainability and textiles. I work only with organically and ethically produced natural fibres, plants and dyes and use pre-loved fabrics wherever possible.

I discovered the practice of botanical eco printing by accident four years ago when I picked too many elderberries to make jam with, and I've been captivated by it ever since!

There are many ways to create glorious, joyful prints with plants, flowers and foodstuff which we have close to hand. Now, there aren't enough hours in the day to pursue all the beautiful possibilities. I wish I'd discovered eco printing five years earlier, but I'm making the most of it now!
