Block Printing Workshop

Join this block printing workshop in Bath and learn the art of printing on fabric and paper with hand-carved Indian wooden blocks. Block printing is a craft with over 2, 000 years of history, and it’s the perfect way to switch off and find your creative spark.In this hands-on session, you'll discover the techniques of random or repeat printing using non-toxic, water-based fabric paints. You’ll be supported every step of the way by Anu, who has a deep connection to this traditional art. It’s a low-pressure environment where you can let your imagination run wild as you explore a collection of over 100 blocks. From tropical motifs and sea creatures to traditional Indian designs and contemporary patterns, there’s something to inspire everyone.Kids and families will love getting messy and experimenting with different colors and layouts. It's a joyful, shared experience that makes it easy to connect with others while you create. You'll finish the session with a new sense of confidence in your making skills and a beautiful, one-of-a-kind keepsake to cherish.Please note: this class is suitable for ages 7 and up. Adults, children, and families are all welcome. Instruction on how to print with blocks, loads of inspiration for designs, all materials, scraps to practise on, and one item to print and take home, depending on workshop length and complexity. For example, a basic children's workshop would include the choice of a large or small drawstring bag or cotton napkin to print, as well as paper cards and bookmarks.
