Beginner's Drypoint Etching Workshop

Come and learn a new skill, meet like-minded people, and take away a beautiful print for your home.

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 6     label £25

Join us at the lovely Marston Beans in Marston for a drypoint etching workshop. Each workshop teaches a new technique in a fun, inclusive, relaxed, and warm environment aimed at all artistic abilities.

This 2.5-hour workshop will involve informed teaching of the drypoint etching process. We will teach you an adapted version of traditional etching, done on copper or zinc plates, that allows the process to be more accessible. Throughout the experience, you will learn how you can also reuse materials you have at home to create beautiful artworks.

Part one of the workshop will teach you to prepare your design by practicing line drawing and mark-making skills. You will be given the choice to do this freehand, or you can build on a printed image that we provide.

For the remainder of the workshop, we will demonstrate how to etch this into an A6 plastic plate. We will then show you how to ink it up and print through a press.

At the end of the workshop, you will have a handmade print to take home!

  • This workshop is for over 18s only.
  • The ticket includes a hot drink from the cafe.
