Join us for a delightful sewing taster workshop where you will learn the art of darning and how to repair your favourite garments with love and care. In this welcoming and supportive class, you will discover the beauty of extending the life of your clothing through simple yet valuable techniques.
During the workshop, you will be guided through step-by-step instructions on how to darn a hole in a knitted garment, either with a free darn technique or using a darning loom. Depending on your previous sewing experience, you may wish to start with a smaller hole and build your confidence for bigger challenges.
We will provide all the necessary materials and tools needed, making this an accessible and enjoyable activity for everyone. The Remakery aims to be a natural fibre-only craft venue, due to our circularity goals, so all yarns will be 100% wool. We have a wide selection of Yorkshire spinners wool, but can't guarantee every colour, please bring yarn if you want a particular shade.
You'll leave the workshop feeling empowered and inspired to tackle future garment repairs with ease.

The Remakery started 10 years ago as a community space for repairing and upcycling furniture.
Since then we have developed several communal workshops for a range of eco-craft activities, and an exciting programme to link climate action with the empowerment of making with your hands.
Our practitioners have trained at London's top Arts schools, or developed their skills over years of self-discovery.
Our programme is curated by Alice Holloway; A researcher in regenerative fashion with The RCA and London Met university, and Innovate Creative Catalyst grant winning regenerative fashion designer.
The skills we share at the Remakery are proven to improve mental health, as well as change how class attendees see the world. We want everyone to feel empowered to make a difference, and we have seen how learning to make something is often in the first step towards changing something bigger.
