Bangle Making Workshop for Beginners

This is a fast-paced ring-making day for beginner jewellers, packed with information, tips, and advice to help you make a twisted or formed wire bangle in sterling silver. During this course, you will gain a broad understanding of traditional handmade silversmithing practices.

You'll learn the art of traditional handmade silversmithing practices, perfect for beginners. By the end of the workshop, you'll confidently craft a stunning bangle in sterling silver, taking home not just beautiful pieces but also a newfound skill set.

With group sizes limited to four, you'll receive individual attention and support throughout the class. Explore your creativity and express yourself through crafting beautiful silver jewellery.

• Develop a broad understanding of silversmithing hand tools and their safe usage.
• Learn essential techniques such as forming, annealing, soldering, and pickling silver.
• Get hands-on experience with metal forming, wire bending, and soldering, honing your skills every step of the way.
• Explore ways to incorporate texture and different finishing techniques into your creations.

Throughout the day, Liz will guide you through the process of creating a beautiful bangle, all from scratch. While materials will be provided, you can purchase extra silver if you're feeling particularly creative or wish to make supplementary pieces. Don't worry if you have your tools – feel free to bring them along.

Expect a supportive and encouraging environment, where mistakes are part of the learning process. By the end of the session, you may just find yourself itching to dive even deeper into the world of jewellery making – who knows where your newfound passion might take you next!

This course is suitable for beginners or those with some prior experience of jewellery making.
Some manual dexterity is needed, but individual needs can usually be accommodated. Please get in contact if you wish to discuss your particular requirements. Please be aware the learning studio is not currently wheelchair accessible. You will have the opportunity to make bangles, with some customization possible. There may be time to make extra bangles as well!
 

• You may wish to bring a pen and notebook. I do provide handouts for some of the projects, but a pen and notebook might be handy.
• You may also wish to bring an apron.
• If you suffer from any respiratory conditions, you might like to bring a dust mask.
• You can also purchase more silver to make extra pieces, so please bring cash to pay directly to your tutor.
• Tools and consumables will be provided, but if you have any, feel free to bring your own.
