About eight years ago I picked up a calligraphy nib and ink as a hobby to get away from a screen. Instantly I was hooked and determined to make it my job. I taught myself from scratch and slowly turned it into my career — now my whole life revolves around calligraphy, stationery design and sharing it with other people, which I'm so lucky to say!I started teaching about three years ago because I wanted people to know how accessible it actually is. There's this idea that calligraphy is only for people with beautiful, neat handwriting — and I really want to bust that myth. It's not true at all! It doesn't matter if your everyday handwriting is a mess, once you get the basics down, everyone finds their own style with it. My style is Modern Calligraphy, and I like to focus on helping attendees bring out their own personality in their lettering — once you've got the basics, you can add your own flair!Over the years I've taught hundreds of people across the North East, run workshops at events and festivals like Happy Place Festival, and created bespoke work for the likes of Holly & Co. I love every bit of it.The one thing that surprises people most when they come to a workshop? How relaxing and mindful it can be, even when you're learning something new.
