AfTREEnoon Experience

Join Meanderers for an autumnal afTREEnoon! A tree-themed day of walking, eating, and making.

4.5 hours Experience size 1 to 10 guests

  £30 - £45 (£30 for Concession; £45 for Adult) (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

For this AfTREEnoon, we will be exploring all things tree through walking, eating, and making!
We will begin the day with a tree tour led by Paul Paine. Paul is a permaculture gardening expert and forager. He works at Ecoworks on the St Anns Allotments; teaching, growing, and cooking food. He has a passion for trees, especially ones that give us food! On this walk, we’ll discover the wide variety of trees living alongside us in our cities, from the big old trees in the park to the pioneer trees struggling to survive in concrete. We’ll learn about all the benefits of trees and why it's so important to look after them.
After the walk, we will enjoy a homemade lunch of a seasonal autumn soup and a tree-inspired dessert of fruit and nut crumble, for those truly cosy November vibes! All the food will be vegan as standard.
Finally, you will be taught how to use leaves directly in your artwork to create leafy screenprints. You will screenprint your own leafy designs onto canvas bags that you'll be able to take home with you, creating a lasting and creative memory of the day. This workshop will be led by artist and facilitator Amelia Daiz. Amelia runs Meanderers and facilitates workshops across the city in venues such as Nottingham Contemporary, City Arts, and The Carousel.
Meanderers is based around walking, wellbeing, creativity, and community, and these walkshops which combine the elements of a creative walk, a social meal, and an art-making session are things that can all help improve and maintain our sense of wellbeing. So, bring a friend or come solo and let's all feel good on a Sunday!

Welcome to Meanderers, an organisation based around walking, creativity, wellbeing and community. Meanderers is led by Amelia Daiz, an experienced creative facilitator and socially engaged artist, as well as frequent collaborations with other talented and exciting creative practitioners.
This organisation is based around using the power of creativity and walking to improve and maintain wellbeing, meet new people, express yourself artistically and feel good in body and mind. Each Walkshop event offered is unique in content but all of them include a curated walk, social meal and art making activity. Research has shown that each of these three things works to improve a sense of wellbeing independently, so why not put them altogether into one wholesome day of fun! Essentially, you are invited to the perfect Sunday! Past themes for Walkshops have included foraging, poetry and the phenomenon of pareidolia, and activities have included printmaking, cyanotype and zine making so keep an eye out for exciting upcoming events.
The events are all a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and suitable for you to attend as small groups, pairs or individually as they're great ways to meet nice people and make meaningful connections.
