An excellent workshop for anyone with previous sewing machine experience.

In this advanced sewing workshop in South East London, you will gain the skills to sew a log cabin panel, a great way to practise stitching in straight lines and top stitch. Once complete, you’ll transform your panel into a lined tote bag, with the option to add a pocket for extra flair. By the end of the session, you will have a beautiful and functional accessory to take home with you.
You'll be working on vintage Elna sewing machines from the '70s, chosen for their charm and robustness! You'll also have the option of bringing your own sewing machine if you'd prefer.
If the thought of advanced sewing techniques feels daunting, fear not. I am an experienced instructor and will guide you through each step with patience and encouragement, ensuring you feel confident and capable throughout the activity.
Working with high-quality Ankara fabric, you will feel inspired as you bring your tote bag to life. By the end of the workshop, not only will you have a stylish new accessory, but you'll also have the knowledge and experience to take your sewing skills to the next level. Get ready to impress yourself with your newfound abilities!

Knowledge required
I ask that guests have prior experience with a sewing machine and are capable of threading and stitching with sewing machines. We will not be going through the basics in this session, but this is a great refresher course for those who understand how to use a sewing machine.
What to bring
You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you feel more confident that way, but you are also welcome to use my vintage Elna sewing machines.

I am a designer by trade with years of hands-on experience both behind the sewing machine and my studio workshop. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching thousands of sewists—from absolute beginners to those refining their craft. If it is made from fabric, I have probably made it or been part of the process. My journey has taken me through the worlds of film and advertising, where precision and creativity come together in every stitch.
Now, I’m excited to share this wealth of knowledge in a new way: by helping beginners take their first steps with the sewing machine. My workshops focus not only on building sewing skills but also on making with meaning—transforming waste materials into beautiful, useful creations.
Alongside sewing, I nurture a passion for tiny details through Micro Collage. These mindful workshops invite you to slow down and immerse yourself in creativity, cutting and curating miniature pictures, threads, beads, buttons, and mixed media treasures. The result is a unique framed piece—whether a memory picture or a purely imaginative design—that reflects your story.
