Join visual artist Claire Piper for this hands-on painting workshop in Eastbourne, where you'll explore the creative possibilities of layering different forms of acrylic. In this relaxed and welcoming session, you'll experiment with acrylic paint, inks, and pens, learning how to build layers with different techniques to create depth, texture, and expressive imagery. Claire will provide demonstrations, sample pieces, and individual guidance throughout the evening, helping you gain confidence with your materials while developing your own unique creative approach.
Most importantly, this workshop is designed to be a feel-good and joyful experience. You're invited to experiment with new techniques and enjoy making art in a supportive, low-pressure environment. You are more than welcome to bring along an existing piece of work to develop further, use Claire’s ready-to-go prepped swatches, or start something completely fresh during the class.
You'll experiment with a range of acrylic techniques including:
  • Layering acrylic paint, acrylic ink, and acrylic pens – build depth and colour through tactile processes.
  • Using alcohol with acrylic – create organic patterns and unique visual effects.
  • Printing and expressive mark-making – add personality and texture to your work.
  • Building a personal style – learn practical ways to work with varied acrylic mediums.
By the end of this inspiring session, you'll have gained plenty of new ideas to continue exploring at home and a beautiful, layered artwork to show off. You’ll leave feeling empowered by your new skills and ready to kickstart a fresh obsession with mixed media. Best of all, you'll take home an acrylic pen so you can keep the spark of creativity alive long after the class ends.
