It's sticks and string, but using the right combo is key to making things the right size. I'll teach you all about gauge and needle size so you don't get any surprises.

Not all wool is created equal. We'll talk yarn weights, softness, and what works for what project.

- 5/5 from Gabriella Margetts-Smith, attended Jan 2026: This is a fantastic class for those of us who've never knitted before in their life. Our teacher was excellent and explained everything thoroughly, whilst also being super friendly. The whole atmosphere was fun, and even though I came on my own I quickly got to chatting with those around me. Additionally, there were some people there who had knitted - before but not for a while - so also seems useful as a refresher course. Would absolutely recommend and am definitely going to be returning for the Next Steps class once I've practiced my knit and purl!
- 5/5 from Christine Nazeh, attended Sep 2025: It was really nice
- 5/5 from Eileen Kay, attended Dec 2022: This has been one of the best mommy and baby classes I could join and feel very lucky to have found it. I learnt a new skill and now have a new hobby ! Jacki is excellent, she creates a great atmosphere, very relaxed and fun. Big thank you !!
- 5/5 from Steph Franklin, attended Jan 2022: Such a brilliant class! Jacki is a great, engaging teacher who really knows her stuff, and I came away with all my cable questions answered, and more! There was loads of time for questions, and a special appearance from a cat never goes amiss!
Your teacher
I'm Jacki, a knitting teacher and knitting pattern designer based in Bristol, UK. I've been knitting since I was a kid, designing since 2020, and teaching since 2021.I offer workshops for all levels of knitter - from absolute beginners to advanced skills like steeking (which is cutting your knitting. Yep. Taking scissors to your knitting.)I'm a firm believer that nothing in knitting is as scary as it might seem (even steeking), and that it's a brilliant way to unwind from our fast-paced perfectionist world. I'm all about helping you create knits that you'll love to make, and to wear.
